Still slightly off topic, but relevant to the earlier conversation:

Experts say sex abstinence program doesn't work

Lawmakers cited government statistics showing that one in four U.S. teenage girls has a sexually transmitted disease and 30 percent of U.S. girls become pregnant before the age of 20

What boring answers. Why don't you just hand them a copy of Grey's Anatomy and let them go from there.

How do you suggest handling it?

But not as likely when PARENTS discuss these things with their kids. Don't put it off and leave it to a government institution!

And Democrats in particular have a history of facilitating this obstructionism in exchange for campaign donations and votes." . . .Amanda Ripley re "Waiting for Superman" movie.

Exactly! biggrin.gif

OH, So I asked my kid if he likes a girl.... he said welllllllllll.....

So I have to PROMISE to NEVER ever ever tell her, and never ever talk about it in front of his friends, and to never make fun of him for it....

Then OUT it came. He totally likes a girl in his class!

I knew it was a trust thing, and I just had to make him trust me not to embarrass him.

He showed me the girl and she is very pretty too! smile.gif My kid has good taste!

My son told me yesterday that a boy and a girl were caught kissing at his school. They are fellow kindergartners.

haaha! No way would my kid KISS a girl YET. He won't even watch kissing on TV.

Haaa! I have seen him watching TV and he said WOAH! with a HUGE GRIN! And when I looked up to see what he said that to, it was a commercial with a girl with really really big boobs! ~Insert *smiley with big jugs*

I definitely know I chased boys in Kindergarten and they chased us girls, and we said we were "kissy monsters". I don't remember actually kissing a boy then, BUT I do remember kissing boys in 1st and 2nd grade. And I remember liking boys as far back as my memory goes, I was about 3 1/2 and in preschool.

My oldest daughter (4 1/2) likes boys, although she won't admit it. But I have seen her eye certain boys in her class, followed by a coy smile when they look at her.

I do think that having girls can be a bit scary though. When I subbed in Folsom schools, a lot of the 6th and 7th graders talked about having intercourse and giving oral sex. It really worried me that these 11 and 12 year olds had enough unsupervised time together that these things could happen.

With today's society, kids are exposed to a lot more...err....should I say information, than my generation?

With TV being the main force in children's lives, I'd say that in another ten years, we will be seeing a lot more 12/13 year old girls getting pregnant.

Attitudes tend to get more loose in morals, with each generation. And the more free thinking the parents, the more their children will think nothing of having sex, even before puberty. They will want to be part of the "Happening Thing", just like all kids do.

I've heard that many grandparents are raising their grandchildren today, much to their chagrin. I guess the childhood mother doesn't do as well as she should, most the time, and grandma has to step in.

Sad......

While that is sad, in my experience that is not even the majority of the cases.
