The members of the Folsom Garden Club extend an invitation to the public to attend their annual spring garden tour, Gardens of Folsom. Six Folsom gardens will be available for viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, 2014.
The self-guided tour will showcase a grouping of lovely gardens, including drought tolerant solutions. Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions. Two popular features, the plant sale and bake sale, return this year.
The Folsom Garden Club was founded in 1934 and is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. The Club is a nonprofit organization with a mission of providing programs of an educational nature that benefit the public.
The 2014 Garden Tour is the major fundraising event for the club. It is held to raise funds to fulfill this mission by awarding scholarships and grants.
Funds raised at past garden tours, beginning in 2001, have made it possible to award twenty-five scholarships totaling $26,000.
Last year, in addition to scholarships, the Club offered a new grant program. The Club awarded two grants, totaling $2,500, to local elementary schools for maintenance and expansion of their school garden projects.
Tickets are $15.00 for attendees 16 and over and include a map and description of each garden location. The tour will be held Rain or Shine with no refunds. For details about the 2014 Garden Tour, and to purchase tickets, visit the Folsom Garden Club website at www.folsomgarden.org.
For questions regarding the tour, call tour chair, Adrienne Coolidge at 916-221-2457.

If you haven't taken this tour before, I can highly recommend it.  You get to see lots of interesting gardens and the club is very good about seeking out the best yards in Folsom.  You will definately get ideas for your own yard.  And the funds they raise go to good causes too.

Knowing the past helps deciphering the future.

I agree, this is a fun way to get some great ideas for your garden, plus explore some areas in the community you may never have been to! Bring some cash as they have a great plant sale and homebaked bakery sale (cookies, fudge, brownies, peanut brittle, yummy!) Plus you support a great organization!
