From Curt Cetaro:   The Event

Join me for a special evening with Romayne Wheeler, world-renowned classical pianist and composer. Romayne will perform some of the great classical pieces along with his own compositions inspired by his life living with the indigenous Rarámuri people of Mexico's Sierra Tarahumara mountains.

The evening will consist of a 1.5-hour piano concert, video and commentary by Romayne about the Rarámuri people and what life is like in the Sierra Tarahumara far removed from civilization. All proceeds from the event go towards Romayne's Tarahumara Relief Foundation in support of his Rarámuri community.

Sacramento will be Romayne's final stop on his "Celebrating 50 Years of Concerts" Global Tour!

  • Doors open at 6:30PM. Performance begins at 7:30PM

  • Parking: A permit is required and available at no charge in the lobby. One can also be obtained from kiosks in the parking lot for $2.00.

  • CDs and DVDs are available for sale after the performance. Romayne will sign CDs and be available for photos.

About Romayne

Romayne Wheeler is a concert pianist who studied classical piano and composition in Vienna, Austria. An assignment led him deep within the mountains of Mexico in 1980 to document the music of the Native American Indians – there he met and fell in love with the Rarámuri people and never left. He now lives atop a mesa among the indigenous Rarámuri people of Mexico’s majestic Sierra Tarahumara mountains. The Rarámuri are renowned for their ultra-long-distance running ability – written about in Christopher McDougall’s “Born to Run.”

Life in the Sierra Tarahumara is far removed from civilization and as unplugged as it gets – no running water, electricity or utilities. Romayne travels the world performing concerts to raise funds for his Sierra Tarahumara Relief Fund. He has built a small medical clinic, a school and helps his Rarámuri community in all things related to self-sustainability and well-being. Romayne’s concerts are dedicated to the Rarámuri for which his support has become life-giving. Likewise, the Rarámuri and their surroundings have breathed inspiration, music and greater meaning into Romayne’s life.

I've got a pair of tickets to give away. If more than one person wants them, I'll draw at random. Interested?
