LO is indeed great but $$$$

LO, SS, Chops are all about the same $$ by the time you get out of there. None are cheap nor are they intended to be.

Wish I had a steak (HAHAHAHA) in a Steak restaurant :)

Just have never been to Chops and was sorely disappointed by Black Angus, Outback, and many of the mid range or casual restaurants. I tried another restaurant in Folsom before it closed (in the center at back of Folsom by Empire Ranch, I can't remember the name but wasn't there too long) and had one of the worst steaks I've ever tasted.

I decided I would have to bite the bullet and either take the time and make one myself (I as well BBQ a mean steak) or pay more. I tried Land Ocean and have been hooked since. I am also very particular. The only cut of steak I will eat out is Prime Rib typically or Filet Mignon. I'll have to give Chops a try.

So.... I revisited Chops this week with a groupon. It's getting better....I shared my first impression & disappointment with the waiter. As a result, I was visited by the new manager of 2 months, Dawn, who said there has been some serious disconnect of communication...she did not say, but implied between the waiters & the chef's. She was really happy I came back & talked to them about my experience. They bent over backwards for my party. We even got free dessert all around. But...once again, the filet hamburger was not cooked as I asked, and it was dry. At least it wasn't lukewarm!! I am willing to go back (with another groupon) to do a direct comparison of filets, and hopefully I will see the difference and be completely satisfied.

I still think the best steak in Folsom is Sutter St Steakhouse. And the Backstreet Wine is a hidden gem. It's just nice to have other options.

I think they only have Prime Rib on Thursday nights. I thought it was pretty good. I haven't tried their Filet Mignon yet.

I've had 3 amazing meals at Henry's at Red Hawk. It is definitely pricy though. If you can't get a reservation, you can dine in the lounge/bar area.

I've heard the place is filled with smokers. Is it true you can't access a single dining area without walking through a smoke filled casino room. I heard this rumor/complaint shortly after they opened and it has kept me from even going there.

Well, the bottom floor where the restaurants are are smoke free, but you do have to walk across half of the main floor to get to the escalators, which does allow smoking. So yes, you will need to walk through smoking areas to get there. I haven't noticed the smoke smell drifting to the lower floor, but I'm not really sensitive to that stuff.

Yes, you do have to walk all the way across the entire casino to get to the escalator to the non-smoking floor. It can get pretty nasty. I actually saw a guy light his cigarette with the one he was finished smoking.

You will smell it on your clothing, but I haven't noticed it coming down to the non-smoking.
