For you Giants fans (I'm a Dodger fan, but love all of baseball), my latest sources say you could be getting Pirates' Freddy Sanchez in a deal soon. Not a stud bat by any means, but he's a heck of a contact hitter with average and fills that black hole at 2B.

I could see SF hanging in for the wild card and at that point, no one wants to face Lincecum and Cain in a short series. I don't think they can win the NL, and it's laughable to consider them beating the AL winner should they reach the World Series, but the Giants have a lot to be proud of considering the lack of power in that lineup.

And Sandoval (or "Little Pujols") is awesome.

hey, any team can win the world series once the playoffs start. When you've got Lince, Cain, Johnson, and Zito (hopefully hot) as your pitchers in the playoffs (not to mention a strong middle rotation), that's a formidable team to play.

I like the Giants' chances if they make the playoffs.

They've the best rotation in baseball, and they mix it up lefties and righties, power, finesse and knowledge.

Well I'd say there's just not enough firepower for SF to out score the AL opponent in the Series. But, they said the same thing about the 88 Dodgers. =)

And don't forget, Jonathan Sanchez, while he's had some issues, is still a fine pitcher as well. I'd start him over Zito if it's a post season game.

Hey Giants have got some bats... they are just sandbagging Bowker down in the minors.. he'll be up for sure in Sept.. maybe earlier... god they have Noah Lowry on the DL and if he ever gets healthy... Zito finally looked good last night... although I thought the coach had the hook a little early... he had a 3 run lead and 1 out in the 9th when he pulled him...

That kid Romo is scary... did you see the way his ball had movement...?

It really boils down to when they "peak out"... look at Philly how the peaked... and the year before Colorado... when they were down... and by the way... they are nipping at the heals of SF....

Awesome pitching he did tonight. Rowand made a helluva catch against the wall too. If it weren't for Uribe botching that basic grounder he could have had a perfect game. Well done. The Giants are looking good, very unexpected. Can they carry the momo is the question.

My wife was wondering why I was so silent starting at about 8:30. That was about the 6th inning, and he still had a perfecto going. I didn't say word one about the game, but had to explain later that you don't talk about a no-no while it's in progress. Anybody brought up in the superstitious world of baseball knows you don't talk about a no-no until it's over.

The thing that made last night's game so special, too, is that the suspension builds over time. Can he do it? It's not like a walk-off HR, which is great unto itself.

While I was alive the last time a Giant pitcher through a no-hitter, I was too young to know anything about it or remember it. Scratch this off the bucket list... wait, I'm too young to have a bucket list.

they've got pitching... and are deep there I know... but geez.. I hate giving up something...

the only time I've seen the Giants do a trade was back in 87 when the got Kevin Mitchell...and I can't remember the left handed pitcher they got as well that year...

and when they got Mitchell.. I knew that kid was great.. remember he was theere 2 outs in the ninth inning in that Mets/Red Sox series in 86 that lasted for I don't know how many hours... but he was the guy that kept them alive with a clutch base hit...

that's what we need is a "clutch hitter".. you know the guy that comes up in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs and 2 men on base and they are behind by a run and he hits a bases clearing double to win the game... or a tie game and he hits a "walk off"...

I love the Big Panda... dang he has that neat ritual at the beginning of every at bat... what a character...

I think they might just be the team the Dodgers don't want to face.. I haven't been watching their scores... don't know if they have pitching like we do.. or are they just out scoring opponents...

I actually turn off the stinking politics at night when the El Gante are on....

I agree that it can be tough messing with the team chemistry, and Sanchez has redeemed himself, at least for now, if it means improving the team, the guys will actually embrace the chance.

Pitching is indeed our strength, and if we want to get that clutch hitter, we need to give up a pitcher, and a good one. No one would trade for Zito, and both Cain and Lincecum have to be untouchable, and Lowry's future is uncertain.

So, if you're a GM and you are looking to the future, and need a young pitcher, and the Giants have 'em, you're gonna want and Sadowski or Sanchez.

I like them both, but that clutch hitter, a cool and calm veteran, will do more for us and give us a better chance at making it through the playoffs.

When struck out Sanchez pitched last night, he just became the most attractive 3 and 8 pitcher in history.

By the way, the 'caught looking' has got to be my favorite play in baseball. A guy gives up his team's last chance at keeping the game alive, standing there with the bat on his shoulder, as the umpire rings him up in front of everybody. Being a rookie only makes it more embarrassing.

geez, after watching them drop the first to the Pirates I was really bumbed out. They couldn't get the offense going, but I am happy they were able to win todays game to stay in the race with both LA and Col since they both also won today. anyway GO GIANTS!

The giants beat the hated dodgers today on a 10th inning walk-off homer by Juan Uribe.

Lincecum pitches 8+ innings and gives up only 2 runs.

Giants win the pennant, it's gonna happen.
