Talk about "Educated" This book has been on the NYT Bestseller List for a long time.

"Educated"

by

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35133922-educated

Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches and sleeping with her "head-for-the-hills bag". In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard.

Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism. The family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education and no one to intervene when one of Tara's older brothers became violent.

Then, lacking any formal education,
Tara began to educate herself. She taught herself enough mathematics and grammar to be admitted to Brigham Young University, where she studied history, learning for the first time about important world events like the Holocaust and the civil rights movement. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge. Only then would she wonder if she'd traveled too far, if there was still a way home.

Educated is an account of the struggle for self-invention.

Wow!
Even the conservative Washington Examiner faults Trump on this one!

:smashpc:

Trump’s ‘disloyalty’ comment about American Jews who vote Democrat was disgusting and worrisome

https://www.washingt...g-and-worrisome

As a conservative, I have found it difficult to get behind Trump despite supporting a number of his policies, and a big reason why is the manner in which he speaks about many minority groups. He has up to this point avoided turning his wrath on Jews, but given his history of flipping on people he views as “disloyal,” his comments make me wonder what would happen if, as is most likely, Jews overwhelmingly vote against him despite his pro-Israel policies. Is there a point at which American Jews essentially become the next Anthony Scaramucci?

Yawn. Compared to "the squad," his comments are (as usual) inept, but not nearly at their level of direct antisemitism.

What are you doing up at 0526 if you don't have a job to go to....?  I am up at 0445 but I am surely not here on this board.   And no, this is not a story.  Any Jew who votes democrat is just a fool, a total fool.  Case in point, Nadler, Streisand, Feinstein, and so many others.....   etc....  The Jews will be the first killed, then the gay folks shortly after that, then the mentally ill, the blacks, the gypsies, the non conforming minorities, then the Catholic priests, the disabled, then the intelligentsia, the librarians, the professors, then the capitalists, and then the non conformists.  Tell me I am wrong, but first study history please....!   This has repeated itself over and over.....   Usually when the leftists take over, actually every time they take over.  Your answer is there.  Think Mao, China, Russia, the Nazi's and Hitler, Pol Pot, the Sandinista's, Cuba, Angola, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hungary, Poland, etc.........   Know your history, you will make so much more sense in the end.  Chris

U.S. created 500,000 fewer jobs since 2018 than previously reported, new figures show

https://www.marketwa...show-2019-08-21

The newly revised figures indicate the economy didn’t get a huge boost last year from President Trump’s tax cuts and higher federal spending. They also signal the economy is a bit weaker than previously believed and could give the Federal Reserve even greater reason to cut interest rates in September.

“This makes some sense, as the 223,000 average monthly increase in 2018 seemed too good to be true in light of how tight the labor market has become and how much trouble firms are said to be having finding qualified workers,” said chief economist Stephen Stanley of Amherst Pierpont Securities.

Well, there goes over $1 TRILLION in Trumps favor to rich folks!

The elite get boats, planes and fancy cars.
The middle class taxpayer gets the shaft!

80% of middle class got tax cuts.  Employment is at all time highs. Minority employment is at all time highs.  Interest rates are low. Stocks are high. The economy is BOOMING for those that put ANY effort into being productive.

Let me guess: Vinny is rooting for a recession.

No surprise there. Hating your country and the hundreds of millions that would suffer to spite one man...?

Example #575,759 that LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISEASE.

God help us!

Donald Trump suffers from psychosis and is
a 'very sick man:' Psychiatrist

Dodes adds: “The simple explanation for it, which people don’t want to hear, is that he’s not in control of himself. This is what we mean when we say that somebody is becoming psychotic or is briefly psychotic."

It is Trump’s psychosis that makes him so dangerous, according to Dr. Dodes. He believes that especially due to Trump’s position of power coupled with his apparent mental health issues.

Two points,

1) NO LEGITIMATE psychiatrist would diagnose a patient they had not seen. Their national group has determined that that is a standard.  So that fameseeker/virtue signaler/flamethrower can suck it.

2) Regarding recession...it's almost like there is a concerted effort to drum up fears of a recession despite strong economic numbers.... Watch and ponder...

I'd rather a psychiatrist take on the Bill and Hillary thing...   You know, the woman who tries to destroy every woman that her serial cheater husband beds down, most voluntarily, a few not so voluntarily.  Just ask Juanita...!

Gonna address that one Tio Vinny...?   Nope, you leftists usually stay clear of that one, those woman, them, the ones who "should be heard"....  Unless of course it is a democrat that is accused.

And Trump is crazy....!   Crazy like a FOX....!

Enjoy your next 5+ years of him as your POTUS.

Chris

That's called "trolling" or "fishing for trouble," Chris.

But, out of respect, I will respond.

Hillary is nothing! No power. Not in the news.

Trump is the demented leader of the free world.
Big difference in the importance of coverage.

Deutsche Bank tells court it has tax returns tied to Trump family businesses

Deutsche Bank said in a court filing Tuesday that it has tax returns relevant to House Democrats' subpoenas for financial records of President Trump, his family and his businesses, but the bank didn't publicly identify whose returns it had.

So what? What do you hope to prove? AND is that the new standard? All private records are now put to the scrutiny of the mob?

Just as about everyone has suspected all along, O'Donnel suggests Trump's business supported by Russia.

That would explain his comments about believing Putin, wanting Russia back into the G-7,

and his failure to call out Russia on its invasion of Ukraine.

MSNBC's O'Donnell makes questionable claim on air that Trump has loans with Deutsche Bank backed by 'Russian billionaires close to Vladimir Putin'

https://www.insider....russians-2019-8

  • MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell said a "source close to Deutsche Bank" told him that President Donald Trump's loans were underwritten by "Russian billionaires close to Vladimir Putin."

  • "If true, that would explain every kind word Donald Trump has ever said about Russia and Vladimir Putin," O'Donnell said.

  • There has been no other reporting that substantiates this claim.

  • I want to stress that is a single source, that has not been confirmed by NBC News, I have not seen any documentation from Deutsche Bank that supports this and verifies this. This is just a single source who has revealed that to me. And that where it stands at this point, its going to require a lot more verification before that can be a confirmable fact," said O'Donnell at the end of his show Tuesday.

  • Earlier on Tuesday, Deutsche Bank confirmed that it held tax records to do with Trump, but no details have yet been made public.

  • Trump's ties to Deutsche Bank have long been the subject of rumor and speculation, and O'Donnell has a long record of controversial statements.
