NFL preseason starts Aug. 14th at 5:00 p.m. at the 49ers. The 49ers play agains the Raiders in the first preseason game. Who will be the Raiders quarterback: Rich Gannon or Kerry Collins?

Farley

Rich Gannon may get the starting nod in preseson, but look for Collins to take the job away from him.

Its very unfortunate that the raiders are so old and the 49ers owner only cares about money both teams are in for a long few years at the least...

I agree, I think Collins could take the position as well. Gannon had such a terrible season last year, but he was hurt. So, it should be a very interesting camp in Raider Land. Steve, you know the old saying, "Winning solves all problems" The Raider's Defensive front should be AWESOME.

Niners are going to be awful this year. 5 wins would be a long shot!

The Niners will be better than everyone thinks, and the Raiders will continue to stink! Also, we will only be stuck with 8 Raider games on TV. Thank you Raider fans.

I certainly hope the Niners do better than expected. They still have some great players and some that may be on the verge of greatness.

I'm a died in the wool, lifetime, season tickets since early 70's Niner fanatic, but after what Eddie's sister and that evil York have done to our team, I think we're looking at 3-13 this year (thank God Arizona is in our division and we get to play them twice!).

I'll give us the 2 AZ games and a maybe vs. both the Jets and Bills, but that's about it folks.

The rest (Atlanta, Seattle, St Louis, Chicago, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Miami, Washington and New England) all look like losses....

Unfortunately... Perhaps next year when we drop all the cap money from players that no longer play for us ($18M I think!), we might be able to improve, especially on the O side.

Oh well....

I thought this topic was going to fade and drop down the list of threads, but since people are still posting to it, shouldn't it be over in Open Topic?

Give us some slack.

Tim Rattay, if he can heal his groin, should be a great quarterback for the 49ers. I was never that big of fan of Jeff Garcia, but then he did have to follow players like Joe Montana and Steve Young.

If it were only Rattay that we had to worry about.

Barlow and Streets is all we have left on the O side... At least with TO we had a fighting chance....

The Niners O-line is huge. Barlow, if he holds onto the ball, will get 1500+ yards. If that happens and the Niners defense is as good as last year, we just need a QB that does not mess it up.

Believe it or not, the receivers will be better as a whole without the bad attitude. Look for a 10-6 record. Besides the Seahawks, who in their division looks scary? Not the Rams and not the Cards.

Streets signed with the Lions.

I like Lloyd over TO.

I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect Curtis Conway is going to be a bust. I haven't liked his attitude the last couple of seasons. Hopefully he sees the Niners as a fresh start because he can be at least above average if not very good.
