Ok, I have to start by saying I had no horse in this race but do HATE the Patriots for their past cheating on many occasions. So naturally I had hoped Atlanta, who I couldn't give two hoots for would win. With that disclosure out of the way lets do a recap.
Atlanta, man for man is the better team. Both offensively and defensively. That was proven for 3 1/2 quarters. They may be a new dynasty with the youth they have though Ryan, as good as he is is not Brady. So the better team lost imo because the better coached and more experienced team were able to take advantage. They were certainly still talented enough and Brady = Clutch but the better team man for man lost.
You see my sub title, Atlanta Coaches Blow Game and they did. It came down to this. Leading 28-20 they had that SPECTACULAR play where Ryan on the run threw to his reciever on the sidelines a PERFECT PASS if there ever was one. The CATCH was even more SPECTACULAR with the reciever dragging his feet in bounds as he dove for the ball.
So that SHOULD have been the game. They need 3 pts and are ALREADY in FG position. What you MUST do is run 3 times RIGHT UP THE EFFING MIDDLE! You kill clock and even if you make two yards on those three runs You kick the FG and win. PERIOD!

Instead Trails was stunned to see the first play as a lateral sweep? Huh? They lost a few yards. On second and 14 or whatever it was, Ryan now has to throw and he gets sacked. THAT was the game. The Coach Choked. period!
Now we can talk about how long the defense was on the field. Yes the Falcons used the no huddle to their advantage but it caught up with them. Their D was spent and it showed late in the 3rd quarter to the end. STILL, the coach blew it.
You have to give Brady his props. Two 8 pt TD's and an OT TD. It doesn't get any better than that BUT, the Coach blew it regardless. There would be no comeback had he just taken his 3 pts. In fact if this were a horse race we'd say the speed came back to the field rather than call this a comeback. It was NOT. It was a Give Away.

Commercials and Half Time..Commercials were pretty lame compared to past years imo. I did enjoy the Melissa Macarthy one with the Rhino etc etc..I LOVED the bad hair one...lol..We are stuck with 4 years of Bad Hair lol..Lets hope it is less. The immigrant one with Anheuser Busch should have hit home to you haters out there.
The Country Guy who sang the National Anthem nearly put me to sleep. Lady GaGa who has never done anything for me was imo SPECTACULAR. I was impressed. What a natural performer she really is. IMO she easily blew Madonna and Beyonce even Katy Perry who I like away.
Haters expected her to go political but she TRUMPED them by doing it with her opening song, This Land is YOUR Land. Also her song Born This way got her message across and it was spitting in the eye of you haters out there. She never had to make a statement that the haters were afraid of..She really is talented though and her diving from the rafters was scary crazy but very kewl too. I think her star will shine brighter than ever now.

How could I forget George Bush and Barbara? Wow, Emo or what? So classy. A REAL American Hero and couple. Trails had to fight allergies on that one if you get my drift.

Atlanta showed that they were new to this stage. Even when the Pats made mistakes (which they rarely do) they still fought and played smart. Having Brady also helps. NE could quite possibly win again next year, they'll have Gronk back.

Not a single commercial stands out to me. Almost every one I saw was for the NFL or a Fox tv series.

Thanks Nomad. Agree with all you said except I think in a rematch Atlanta wins easily next time...that's a big if...I'm just saying youth is everything and I think they manhandled the Pats until the D started feeling it. They were on the field a LONG time...a guy like Brady will get you sooner or later under that scenario...You didn't comment so I'll assume you agree with me that the Atlanta coach blew the game with his play selection at that pivotal time? I am adamant about that. I saw where he commented his D got tired...um yeah they did but YOU blew the game, not them!

Thinking back though one must also say it was destiny too with that miracle catch where the ball rested on top of a leg for the Pats. Now I've seen it all....Still I blame the Atlanta coach though lol.

Well they blew a 25 point lead! One thing that stood out was ATL kept snapping the ball in the 4th qtr with 6-14 seconds left on the play clock. They could have taken a few more minutes off by slowing down but that isn't their "rhythm" so they didn't alter the way they play to eat the clock. Coaching mistake.

And yes not running 3x up the middle when they had been shredding the Pats defense to possibly get the game winning FG was another coaching mistake. Amazing how it all unraveled with just a few key plays.

Not sure how confident the 49ers should be after seeing all that.

Biggest collapse in Superbowl history. It seemed like they started to panic. Holding calls, pass interference, missed tackles and bad play calling. Joint effort.

I loved Melissa McCarthy's commercial. Can't remember any of the others.

Thanks Nomad. Good point on the sloppy snapping too. I don't know how many times they kept saying "Atlanta only called this few amount of plays".."Unheard of" Aikman said. So that means their D was being used up. It was ok with the big lead but...Time of possession counts in Football..

When they went sideways on that first play in that important sequence and lost yardage, they were looking for a big play or you don't sweep. It was sick. What was he thinking? Even 3 QB sneaks and a FG would have won.

Steve,

They did indeed fall apart and you could see it coming at 28 - 12 but still..So much had to happen for them to lose. Not just the one sequence I point to at 28 - 20. The Pats had INCREDIBLE luck..One deflection by two guys ends up being a completion...Then the Miracle Play with the ball resting on some leg lol..THAT completion showed it must have been destined. No matter what though you still have to hand it to them and Brady especially. He was incredible.

BTW Steve, Did you see Melissa McCarthy doing Sean Spicer on SNL? I posted it in the meme thread in politics..PRICELESS! :P

I am probably nit picking here but why didn't anyone call a review on the tying TD? He was stopped cold at the goal line...yes it probably broke the plain just barely but review it and rest up for the 2 pt conversion, no? Anyone else feel that?

Almost forgot, I also wanted to point out that one commercial with America the Beautiful being sung in multi languages. It WAS beautiful...Take THAT you haters out there. :PATRIOT:

I hear quite a few of the Patriots have declined going to the White House. Was never crazy about the team but now they are REALLY PATRIOTS imo. :USA: :usaflag: :PATRIOT:
