About the only view you can get is from near the VFW hall, right.  You can't go onto the grounds, can you ?????

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

no, you can't go into the corporation yard itself, but you can see it from neighboring streets, at least most of it.  and certainly get a feel for the area and surrounding environment.

.

Video 2013.   City has added a fleet of raw sewage-sucking trucks since then.

City has old septic system down there as well, and a great deal of contamination.

As for the proposal, the vfw hall is PART of the INDUSTRIAL Zone.   It is illegally connected to a tiny 4" sewer line built for the Residential Subdivision.

When the federal NPDES Permit is replaced and enforced again, the city will face gigantic sewage issues -- including using public waters for excess sewage.

And "Maestro" please tell the general public here in Folsom how much you have cost the city in legal fees and settlements...........?   Maybe a million or so...?   And I say your comment above about "BA" educated minions or such........   Are you above us all, those of us with BA's and BS's, thinking you are above those of us normal citizens with college degrees.....?  Please don't insult the ones you want to sway for your argument, rule one I'd say. You seem to have a single minded vendetta against someone in government in this city, or the city itself....?   Can't figure it out just yet..........  There is a story there that has not been told yet, I'd love to know.......  By the way....  Is your name Deborah...?   Just wondering...   After a quick search a certain "Deborah" seems to keep coming up in the suing and litigation department for the city of Folsom CA.............   Do you have too much time on your hands....? Is this your job now, to sue the city over and over again about minor stuff....?  Please stop costing the rest of us here in Folsom over BS stuff.............!   Get a life and move on.....    Start growing Geraniums, volunteering at the library, playing bridge, or maybe adopting a few old Bonzai trees and keeping them alive........  It would cost those of us who live here a lot less in legal fees............   Please stop and get a life.   Chris

Deborah has her own lawsuit against the city for the messes created along the American River.      Deborah too has the support of many people in her fight.     There are also other Complainants because there are so many offenses along the American River.      There are many people who wrote letters to Telegraph Editor as well.     Someone should post them as well.   All you need to know is that if people, children, property and safety are threatened, expect responses.

Maestro is Italian for one who is very skilled at playing and conducting.

In your case I think it means someone who is unclear, rambling, verbose, meddling, a gadfly, and a vexatious litigant.  Please get another hobby other than needlessly suing the city that I live in and costing us all money.   Chris

How did this fly off the rails? Wasn't this thread about the Corporation Yard?

Maestro, create a thread titled "City of Folsom Misdeeds" and put everything in there. Kind of a *one-stop shop*.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Back on topic...

You can get a great view of the yard from the bike trail below it.  You need to get out of the car and walk 1/4 mile though.  We walk the dog along the bike and equestrian trail in this area often.

Couple ideas for this area:

1)  Make the yard an extension of old town and design part of it to host the craft fairs, beer fests, and other public events that when held on Sutter street cause traffic jams, congestion, and general mayhem.  In other words, design the place to host these events a little further from busy streets.

2)  Since the land slopes downward toward the river, make part of it an outdoor amphitheater with a sloping grassy area toward a stage. It would be like the "summer concerts in the park" held at City Park, but because it's on a slope, everyone could throw out a blanket and get a really good view.  Host concerts, school events, maybe a Shakespeare Festival in the summer.  If it ever snows here, kids could go sledding (just kidding).

Folks, please don't let them pave it over for a parking lot and a Tree Museum where you have to pay a "dollar and a half to see 'em".  And don't allow crackerbox high density housing.  We don't want our town to look like the recent development along Parkshore Dr.  That place is just ugly.  Almost looks like a refugee camp (IMHO).

GOG, all good ideas.  Perhaps some sort of rustic building that could be rented for weddings with a gazebo? Maybe a community garden with a rose arbor that the garden club might me interested in maintaining to save the city money.  Or are there soil concerns?  It was a corporation yard as well as, I think, the town dump in the past.

There would be room for parking as well so the surrounding residents won't be so impacted.  Haven't they already approved some housing near there, condos or something?

Great ideas, people!

Conference/event space is sorely needed.

Perhaps a concert venue, though we do have the little-used amphitheater on Sutter.

GoG, love the Joni Mitchell reference....   I see what you did there...!    Very cool....!   Love her to death, have all of her albums (yes, vinyl).....    Anyway, back on subject and stop suing the city folks, all it does is cost us all money.....!    There has to be a better way.   Litigation just eats your soul alive and drains your bank account.   In this case, our city funds...........    Thanks for that 3/4 million you got us for whatever your name is, hope you are proud of that....!   Hopefully Karma will do her job too.....   Chris

Subject:   the future of loose piles of rock is NOT urban construction

FYI:   Building on loose piles of rocks, like Parkshore, Cresleigh, South of 50, LNS   is just as dangerous as the city's Lake Natoma Trail Project.     At trail, rock piles collapsed and continue to collapse.   Slopes are coming down.       Remember, most of city was dredged, and that is documented in Folsom's hidden Lk Natoma Trail Geotechnical Report, and the published "Existing Conditions"  NEPA, 2010, at USBR.gov.

In other words, both  federal government and CA State Parks published studies warning of the dangers.    Youngdahl Geotechnic Reports 2010 and 2012 definitively warned the city their trail project would collapse because piles of loose rocks make a rotten construction foundation.     It is also time to worry about the damage the city caused to the bridge foundation, and the dangers of impounding unlimited amounts of stormwater behind the 10 to 12 foot high earthen dam the city built, at the bridge foundation.   Yup, earthen dam of rocks and dust and at least one stormdrain pipe of 48 inch diameter.....

"W. Leidesdorff Plan Report" was scheduled to occur Sept. 13, 2017 -- but City Clerk wrote it is NOT on agenda.

PS  Grumpy is right:   Parkshore is and has built on "Silverbrook Island".    During normal, non-drought times, this marsh flooded.     BTW, bridge foundation near the Goodwill Store suffered a collapse.    Hard to build reliable bridges on piles of rocks.
