I received this from one of my Navy friends.  I could boycott the games on the 12th of November.

This, my friends, is one of the most truthful and eye opening messages I have ever received and so important to send it to all on your list.  If  you love your beautiful country, you will pass  this on and ask those you send to, to do the same.  Let's get these ungrateful pigs down on their knees again...begging for forgiveness...begging for their jobs, denying them their "claim to fame"..With a little bit of luck, they will  find a job in McDonald's or Walmart.  Let's take them down a notch or two.. How about shipping them off to another country, like Ghana or some other third world country and see just how much they appreciate and respect their country then!   I'm sick to death of their pitiful lack of disrespect for all that has been afforded them in this great country...showing their lack of it to the whole world.  Spread the word folks...let's get this out to everyone who appreciates and loves this great nation!! Stop supporting the NFL!!

Myrlan Wills, One who is proud to be an American.

You graduated high school in 2011.  Your teenage years were a struggle.  You grew up on the wrong side of the tracks.  Your mother was the leader of the family and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate.  Academics were a struggle for you and your grades were mediocre at best. The only thing that made you stand out is you weighed 225 lbs and could run 40 yards in 4.2 seconds while carrying a football.   Your best friend was just like you, except he didn’t play football.  Instead of going to football practice after school, he went to work at McDonalds for minimum wage.  You were recruited by all the big colleges and spent every weekend of your senior year making visits to universities where coaches and boosters tried to convince you their school was best.  They laid out the red carpet for you. Your best friend worked double shifts at Mickey D’s.  College was not an option for him.  On the day you signed with Big State University, your best friend signed paperwork with his Army recruiter.  You went to summer workouts.  He went to basic training.
You spent the next four years living in the athletic dorm, eating at the training table. You spent your Saturdays on the football field, cheered on by adoring fans.  Tutors attended to your every academic need.  You attended class when you felt like it. Sure, you worked hard.  You lifted weights, ran sprints, studied plays, and soon became one of the top football players in the country.  Your best friend was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. While you were in college, he deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan twice.  He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did.  He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young American's give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.
You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts.  You hired an agent and waited for draft day.  You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million although you had never played a single down of professional football.  Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year.
You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach.  He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers.  You will sleep at the Ritz.  He will dig a hole in the ground and try to sleep.  You will “make it rain” in the club.  He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 120 degrees.
On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name.  For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week.  There are no adoring fans..  There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and “go to the rear” to rest.  He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV.  When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television.  While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country.
To the players of the NFL:  We are the people who buy your tickets, watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys.  We anxiously wait for Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism. Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you.  We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth..  We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right.  But now you have gone too far. You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country.  I am done with NFL football and encourage all like minded Americans to boycott the NFL as well.

National boycott of the NFL for Sunday November 12th, Veterans Day Weekend. Boycott all football telecast, all fans, all ticket holders, stay away from attending any games, let them play to empty stadiums. Pass this post along to all your friends and family. Honor our military, some of whom come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

Already stopped watching them Camay and I hope the niners do not win a single game this season.  Stand for the flag, kneel for the cross.   Chris

I agree - they do have a lack of disrespect and are trying to make our country great for EVERYONE!

By being divisive? Pretty dumb comment.

NFL ratings are in free-fall, and it's their own fault for allowing this anthem idiocy to continue. If players are going to bring politics to the football stadium, they need to be benched. And if they keep doing it, they need to be fired. Your job is to play football. Your job is NOT to hijack the NFL for your stupid, fake "cause". Oh, and BTW, "hands up, don't shoot" is a lie. It never happened. Anyone who believes the LIE is ignorant of the real facts of the incident.

Their ratings are already tanking, but I will exercise my right to "protest" their tone-deaf stupidity on the 12th. Whatever tack they take is too little too late in my book.

I'd largely given up on football but would occasionally watch.  Now I would even do that.

I'm amused that multi-millionaires who have a platform to affect change can take a knee and think they've done something.  Why aren't they using their fame and celebrity to try to heal old wounds?

I would love to see all the kneelers take one of those trainings on subduing civilians the cops do periodically with the press, the ones where the 'civilian' may or may not have a gun, or runs, or fights back, or ....

Good idea Carl. Already happened to a hockey player that "protested."

The NFL players do use their platform to affect change.  There is a lot of change to be made. In the cities where they play they do a lot for the communities.  Not just with money but their own personal time.

Here is just a small list of contributions from these horrible people:

https://www.sbnation...rson-foundation

Believe what you want but NFL ratings are not tanking and has almost nothing to do with the protests.  People watch sports differently with streaming options.  NASCAR and basketball ratings have seen similar declines as people continue to cut the cable cords and watch sports differently.  Is NASCAR losing viewers because of the confederate flags at events?  Of course not but you can put your own spin on things and people may believe you in the current climate where our leaders try to tell us real news is fake.

Of course NFL ratings are sliding. Story below, and make sure to read the reader's comments at the end of the story. Ratings not tanking? Apeman, have you been in a coma for the last year? Wake up, dude!

NFL ratings overall have been going down steadily for a few years, but when you have the highest ratings in TV FOREVER and then lose, oh let's say 10% of The MAGA Sheep audience, ...that just means the ratings lead went from "Massive" to "Very Big". Basically, the NFL, the best sport in the WORLD will be just fine.

I generally stay away from political discussions, and may eventually send this to the politics section, but for now I'll chime in and hope it doesn't get too heated.

We can argue whether or not the players' methods will work in achieving their goals, but they are not doing anything illegal, immoral, violent or disruptive to our lives, as other types of protests can. The Black Lives Matter and Neo Nazi protests come to mind.

They don't turn their back on the flag. They don't spit on it, burn it, or deface it in any way, which as has happened at other types of protests dating back to the 1800's.

They are peacefully and silently taking a knee or locking arms.

This isn't about veterans. In fact, many veterans have spoken out, written, and signed letters in support of the players' right to protest.  As one put it, 'We didn't fight so we can force them to stand up. We fought for their right to kneel.'  www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/09/25/anthem-kneeling-isnt-aimed-veterans-and-other-nfl-protest-misconceptions/701409001/

They do indeed have the right to their protest, and those not protesting have the right to speak out against them and to turn off the TV.

So again, will their protest be effective? Time will tell. It doesn't seem to be working, because some people are so offended and/or outraged, they're not listening to the message.

I think now the issue has taken a life of its own. Do the players suddenly stop? What about the issues they are protesting? Will they suddenly stop? Not an easy thing to solve.

I agree with everything Steve has written.  The saddest thing about this protest is that it has revealed how some Americans--insisting on coerced patriotism--have absolutely no understanding of what this country is about and the freedoms our veterans have fought for.

You know who believes in coerced patriotism?  Dictators.  And oh yes, Donald Trump.

Yeah, the NFL is perfectly happy with lower ratings. Sure they are. So are all those advertisers/networks who are paying big bucks to the NFL. Sure they are. In fact, the NFL and the sponsors/networks are hoping for even MORE protestations by these "look at me" clowns. Sure they are. After all, the NFL and the advertisers/networks are perfectly happy to have politics injected into football, which used to be a fairly *safe space* to go to on Sundays for many Americans. Sure they are. But now we have a bunch of drama queens, many of them with rap sheets, protesting so-called "police brutality". Memo to that crowd: maybe if you stop *acting the fool* and committing crime, the police will leave you alone. What a concept!! And don't make me drag-out my DOJ and FBI statistics on black crime in America. Don't make me do it.

My bottom line: if you want to protest a fake cause, do it on your own time and keep it OFF of the football field. The NFL better get a handle on this before the NFL suffers permanent, irreparable damage.
