So, I take my TV in for repairs at Sac Video in Orangevale a couple months ago, after diagnosing the problem they tell me it would cost around $120 to repair. I gave the go-ahead-They told me it would be about a week. About 10 days go by and no word from Sac video, I call and they tell me another week. Week goes by-NO CALL...I call them and they tell me the part is back ordered and would be a few weeks before it would arrive. Now I'm pissed. They tell me they would call me when part arrived... 2 weeks go by and you guessed it- NO CALL. I just called and the number is disconnected! THEY ARE OUT OF BUSINESS.They stole my $700 TV!!!
I plan on calling BBB tomorrow but will it do any good? Does anyone have suggestions? I blame myself, should have known from thier attitutde. UGHHHH!

Since your TV is still broken isn't it only worth $580?

Oh I'd be pretty pissed too! Calling the poilice non-emergency line may be the right idea. Maybe talk to a neighboring business to find out who owns the strip center? They may have the owner's number.

I'd be checking craigslist and ebay if I were you...

What's the exact name of the business and address? Also, if you have the first name of the person you dealt with.

I don't think filing a police report would be totally out of line, but I'm not sure if the police would consider this a business-type dispute. Worth asking, I think.

Maybe they just moved to a new location? Have you been by there to see? I bet it's just sitting there while they take their time getting all the repairs back to people. I'm sure they are in no hurry.

George, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs, the license for Sacramento Video Service in Orangevale is No. 26457 and is considered "clear" and doesn't expire until December 2008. The license is under the name of Russu (probably Russell) Veniamin. I'd make a complaint to them. http://www.dca.ca.go...omplaints.shtml

Also, according to the County of Sacramento, there is a fictitious business name that is active under Sacramento Video Services with the same name of Russu Veniamin #0710113.

Not much to go on, but I hope it helps. I'm really sorry to hear what happened.

Hi, George. I'm sorry that happened to you. I Googled "Sacramento Video Service" and, sit down....... I got this "Call Curtis" article!

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Here we go again. A Russu TV repair replay.

But first, our latest victim.

"This is the TV here," or what's left of it, Brock Hinton says as he shows us his wall-sized entertainment center. "It's just a shell of a TV. All the guts are out of it."

Hinton had the innards of his wide screen TV taken out to be fixed; it wouldn't turn on. He called Fair Oaks Video in Sacramento, and owner Benjamin Russu hauled it away for repair. A few months later, he got his TV back; but the fix only lasted a day or two.

Russu returned. Hinton says "he (Russu) took the guts out of the thing again and that's the last I've heard of it."

That was December 2006, more than sixteen months ago.

Since then, Russu's changed the name of his company to Sacramento Video Service, and Hinton's called him countless times.

"...calling for about the hundredth time, wondering what's going on with my TV..." Hinton says to an answering machine.

It's always the same; he can't get through to Russu.

"Yeah, I mean basically he took my money and ran and trying to avoid me at this point."

So Hinton called us for help. He paid Russu nearly six hundred bucks, yet his TV isn't fixed and hasn't been returned.

And that's been a recurring theme with Russu.

We first confronted him two years ago for another consumer.

"We're here about Gloria Ziegler's television," Kurtis Ming announces to Russu inside his old store.

It's a situation similar to Hinton's. He took money for repairs, fixed the TV, but hadn't returned it for 6-months.

Then we saw him again in March of 2007. He had Ed and Savannah's TV for nine months but never made the repairs.

He wouldn't talk to us then, and he didn't have much to say this time either.
Kurtis asks Russu inside his new store "what's happening with Brock Hinton's stuff? You've had his stuff for a year and half." Russu replies with a roll of his eyes C'mon. I told you guys I don't want to talk to you guys."

It appears he doesn't talk much with some of his customers.

The Better Business Bureau shows Fair Oaks Video has an unsatisfactory record because of six instances where the "company failed to respond to the BBB to resolve or address a complaint" about repair issues.

Kurtis continues to question Russu: "Can you just tell us what's going on with his stuff?" "No." "You've had it for a year and a half?"

Russu explains "I can't get parts. I'm going to give it back to him."

Kurtis confirms with "You're gonna give it back to him? Can he get a refund?"

Russu seems surprised. "Refund for what?"

Kurtis refreshes his memory: "He paid you six hundred dollars."

Russu tires of our questions demanding "I want you to leave guys. Don't you speak English?"

Brock Hinton does, and his message is clear. "Stop him from doing it to somebody else."

Russu escorts Kurtis and crew to the door saying "Please guys, leave. Thank you." Kurtis reminds him of his track record with Call Kurtis: "Third time Benjamin, third time."

Russu says he can't get the parts for the TV, but doesn't explain why he won't call his consumers back, or refund the money when he can't properly fix the TV.

If you have a complaint with an electronics-related business, you can get on the records by filing a report with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Electronics and Appliance Repair.

That's really weird. Resumelady's info seems like it's the same guy, but when you look up county records Benjamin Russu comes up as Russu Veniamin. Hmmm.
