I am TOTALLY against "free" money being given out willy nilly by the feds. I will suck up my lost business. I do worry about the young 20 somethings who work paycheck to paycheck. However, it is not the GOVERNMENTS job to manage your life. Take some responsibility. Especially if you are a 30 something or more. YOUR life choices and daily decisions got you where you are. If you can't manage a few weeks at that age, that is on you. Maybe instead of that bigger house, or newer car, or fancy vacation, or eating out once a week, you PAY yourself with some savings or investments. And seriously, 1000 dollars? That wont even make a dent in most peoples monthly expenses.
I have lived the last 25 years below my means. My last truck had 275k miles on it. I pay extra on my house because I didn't buy the max. I save. I shop at winco when i would much rather shop at Raleys. I don't buy expensive "toys." I invest. These are all CHOICES. I gave up exotic vacations in middle age. All the while I watched my contemporaries get new cars every couple years, buy massive houses with massive mortgages, take fancy vacations and fill their garages with toys. I promote my life choices, however, I do not begrudge them making those life CHOICES...right up until they start crying about not having enough money to get by and want a bailout.
So yeah, vinny, I am for personal responsibility. The way I see it, my grandkids are going to be paying off that "free" cash, so the RESPONSIBLE thing to do would be to take the money and invest it for them. Another good idea would be to buy gift certificates at local businesses to help them out. Maybe keep those struggling employees employed.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive" -- C.S. Lewis
If the only way to combat "global warming" was to lower taxes, we would never hear of the issue again. - Anonymous
"Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one" — Thomas Paine, 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 (1776)

Well spoken, and I agree.
I think too, you can see in a catastrophe like the one we are enduring that a strong federal government is essential,
although some state governors seem to be rising to the occasion too.
One thing is for sure: We must be united in our efforts to reduce the threat to our health.
I DO see that occurring now.
