While in college I worked in an extremely popular restaurant with a full bar, we were always "slammed" in the evenings and the weekends were crazy. The thing I remember most is our restaurant manager, she was always on the floor hurrying us along, checking the kitchen for food that was sitting waiting to go out, if a waitress was standing waiting for food, the manager would have her take out the food even if it was not her table, we were taught to never walk by a table with dirty dishes without picking up plates or taking up a tab to the register, didn't matter if it was our table or not, we were all about team work and would have regular meetings..The owners of the restaurant would come in the evenings and sit at "their" table, watch and smile at us as we whizzed by...I do hope the owners can figure things out before its too late....

Having been in sales my entire working career, have realized that some folks are really people friendly while others are not so much. I can think of two restaurant owners who are not so people oriented, that being said I do not patronize the restaurants for several reasons one of them being the folks who work there seem to carry over the owners attitudes. Just my observations on a social level not a criticism on the quality of the food, that's a whole different column..

Friendly and competent are two different things. Some people have both. Some only one to the exclusion of the other. I don't want wait staff that don't do their job, friendly or not. Some are so busy being friendly with other customers and other staff that they just forget about doing their job.

I have tried Folsom Tap House 2 times and have had bad experiences both times. Won't go back. Strange thing is I LOVE Back Wine Bar - not sure how he does such a great job running Back but Tap House is so poorly run!

I went tonight with a party of 7, plus 6 others who stopped in for one drink. It wasn't perfect, but it was good.
One guy complimented staff on the excellent wings and said he'd be back, and another said to Chad, want to meet her Sunday for the Niner game?
So, they earned a couple of new fans.
Like you, I love the Back Wine Bar as well. I hope this place does well. They were pretty busy for a Thursday night.
