Just trying to bust out of routine. Who are your favorite local wineries and which varietals?

Up the hill, Crystal Basin Cellars is my go to. Their location is not a "destination" style outlet, but the owner/staff are great, and their wines are generally very good. Favorites are the Cab Franc, Campione (pricey) and depending on year, Mouvedre

Don't get out to Napa much anymore, but I used to like Sterling Cab Sauv before they changed their business model. The cave at Meritage is pretty cool, but the rest of it is...meh.

Russian River area has the  Korbel Champagne tours, which are very interesting, and hey, who doesn't like sparkling wine?

Paso RObles area, our favorite is Opolo  vineyards  A great Sangiovese, and a few other really good blends (stop by Pasolivo for some olive oil tasting on your way)

What are your favs?

Great topic!!!

There are so many good wineries around here.

In Apple Hill, my favorites are Findleton and Illuminare, both located in the same little building. I used to be a member at Chrystal Basin. Good wine, but I moved on. Bumgarner is great as well. Mardona and Wofford are also good.

Pleasant Valley is home to my favorite, Holly's Hill. Rhone varietals, good people, nice view. Right next to Sierra Vista, one of the oldest up there.

In Fairplay, I'm a member of Toogood, but going to drop out soon. Latcham is good, too.

When in Amador, Runquist, Borjon, TKC, Turley, Sobon, Noceto and Iron Hub are worth the visit. Andis too. Helwig has really nice facilities, but I haven't had their wine in a couple of years.

Clarksburg, at the Sugar Mill has some good ones. I recently joined Bump City, which is owned by Roger Smith of Tower of Power.

In Lodi, Klinker Brick, Berghold and the hidden gem, Drava are great.  Zins are king down there.

I'm always trying and discovering new places.
