Aspiration is one thing; being guided through the stepping stones that it takes to actually achieve those aspirations is a whole other ball of wax. The disconnects are many for at-risk youth.

Guidance comes from good parenting (good parents).

Where would they find out about these successful people? There are no TV shows about them. The media only shows black athletes and black rappers. I don't know if they are held up as examples in schools.

They'd find out from good parents who cared about the well being of their children and were concerned with raising them to be good people.

How do we get that underclass to understand the steps to self-sufficiency?  How do we get them to turn from short term easy to long term best decision making?

It can be done with good attentive caring parenting.

I am not an Obama fan, but it doesn't have anything to do with his race. In fact I truly hope Ben Carson decides to run in 2016 and wins!

Obama's short comings are not because of his skin color, it's because he's a very poor leader who is too concerned with his party and socialism.

I'm 1000% for putting Allen West into office. I have the utmost respect and admiration for that man.  (FYI for those who don't know, he's black).

I hate being called a racist simply because I am 100% opposed to the President's policies and worldviews.  Would I enjoy having him over for dinner? Absolutely. Do I want America to become what he envisions? Absolutely not. It has nothing to do with his skin and everything to do with his love of government.

He's a nice guy, it's just his politics that suck.

I'd have him over for dinner and enjoy a few beers and joints with him. But I do not believe in socialism and his agenda.

This is what pisses me off the most about the Ferguson fiasco (info graphic below)....  the real problem is crappy parenting, not a white cop shooting a black man that attacked him.  If Obama and Sharpton really wanted to help the black community, they would address the importance of good parenting and how it really matters instead of blaming the cops and demanding cop cams - their solutions are misguided by their ignorance of the real problem and their race card game. It's easier to yell racism then do real work.

There are many police departments that are intensely anti-camera. Many people around the country are arrested or have their cameras confiscated without cause for taping police. The charges range from obstructing a police officer in the line of duty to illegal wiretapping. Illinois amended the law to make it explicitly illegal to record police officers on duty without their consent. The constitutionality of that law is currently being challenged in a federal court, in ACLU v. Alvarez.

It is a bunch of crap. In a public place, there should be no restriction to filming any incident provided you are not impeding the process. There are hundreds of cases, but here is a link to some. Interestingly, when police wear cameras, complaints against the police drop substantially.

Ever since the dash cam came out I thought we were getting to see a lot more then usual and with that came the assumption that was keeping them legit. The chest cameras would be good but won't those be a bit cumbersome and potentially dangerous when it comes to the physical part of the job?

Where is the Hell is the National Guard, FBI agents and police?

They just let the idiots go into those stores and steal everything and then set them on fire.

Why don't the National Guard personnel and police stand in front of those doors and stop

them from going in? Why do they just let them take over?

I guess no one gets hurt this way. Let them do what they want to. If you try to stop

them there would be some shootings for sure.

THE DUMBEST THING THEY COULD DO, THEY DID DO BY READING THE VERDICT AFTER DARK.

WHY IN THE HEL. DIDN'T THEY WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING?

YES, I AM PISSED.....

"It's disturbing when you have what amounts to American soldiers viewing American citizens somehow as the enemy," said Antonio French, an alderman in St. Louis.

Im glad to see I am not the only one who sees the use of the american military against american civilians as quite disturbing.

It is even more disappointing to me when I see people who support it-who know first hand what the military mndset on missions is like.
