I'm not sure why The Folsom Telegraph online version doesn't have mirrored content that is in the printed version or why it takes them so long to put things online, but yesterday's paper had three guest columns from the challengers - Roger Gaylord, Jennifer Lane, & Chad Vander Veen - about what it was like to run for office.

We should set up a women's sewing bee in Historic Folsom and put it right next to one of the bars~ just to be historically realistic   :P

Honestly though, it would be pretty cool to get some women business owners and some women civic leaders and stuff and try to lure the young female voter or soon to be old enough to vote to go to meetings on how to read city council notices, how to respond to petitions, how to address the council, what types of studies or permits are needed for typical interactions through the council and genreally prepare to be more 'aware'.

I have to think that one of the reasons why the system is ignored and incumbents reelcted is that people think the system cumbersome, do not know how decisons at city level are made (in Folsom I have to think even old timers are a bit mystified by all this), and who or how to appeal processes or votes.

Seriously, wouldn't it be cool if we set up a mock city council so that people could learn more about the city charter and Folsom?

I haven't asked again, but years ago did, and was told that the reason was if all of the content was available online, no one would buy the paper.

Sounds silly, as they get ad online ad revenue, but I'm not in charge.

Ducky, one editor  is out of office this week.    Call them and request material -- they will oblige.

I agree it is kind of nonsensical.  I'm not sure why one would be enticed to buy the printed version if they aren't aware there are omissions in the online version.

It's not just this week.  It is pretty consistent that things never make it to the online site.

Such is the fate of a lot of local papers; keeping their services to only the older (and dwindling) generations who read print newspapers.

If they had a useful, let alone dynamic, website hey'd get online ad revenue and become an actual information source. I borrow one, or friends will just tell me about articles. I don't consider them to be relevant at all and I pay attention to local happenings.

They don't even have a way to order a print subscription online, which keeps me from getting one.

The Folsom telegraph is free. It is in boxes around town as well as at the two light rail stations in Folsom. Pretty easy to get.

If you want it delivered to your driveway, it is only $29 for a year.
