I've lived in some foreign countries, so I can't say I dislike California.

I hate the greedy developers who want to get the most money out of the land when they build homes (even though it's fair for them to want to). I hate that in these types of subdivisions the lots are tiny. I hate that the houses are small. What am I comparing to? The east coast has beautiful, big homes. It seems like we don't have as many old buildings out here in CA. I'm thinking of the New England states, or the steel belt. Even the south, like Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia.

I hate our ineffective and mostly worthless state legislature.

I hate the materialism and focus on appearance. People in California have fancy cars, fake boobs, botox, expensive highlights, fake tans, etc. to a much greater extent than people in New England. Sometimes it's a relief to go back East and be surrounded by a bunch of normal-looking people.

The State is not the state. The government may get on my nerves but I love this place. The climate is wonderful, the scenery is wonderful, the people are great. It's the best place in the country to have my job. When eventually my job packs up and moves to Nevada or Arkansas or Mississippi, I'll be looking hard for a way to stay behind.

I was born here in CA and have lived here my whole life. I have seen some beautiful land covered with houses and shopping malls with almost no free space left anywhere. I miss the huge tracts of land with fields of apples, corn and tomatoes. The traffic is horrible and the air is getting worse.

I've lived here since I was five, although most of that time was spent in southern California.

I hate the legislature and the politics.

I hate how people don't value education here the way they do in New England -- especially Connecticut.

Other than that, heh, I love being near enough to San Francisco to visit for a day or a weekend without having to make a full vacation out of it.

I went to the Outside Lands festival at Golden Gate Park a couple of weeks ago to see Ben Harper, Steve Winwood, Tom Petty and Cake. Soooooo cool! What's with all the smokers in San Francisco, though? Sheesh. I felt like I was in Europe or something.

California is a spectacularly beautiful state with a rotten state government.

Thanks Rog and Dave for voting for that sham of a budget! Way to go, guys.

Oh, and I hate the roads and traffic here, mostly the bumpy roads. Why is it when you drive up I80 the second you cross the border into Nevada the roads are smooth as glass? And the pavement in California hasn't been replaced since the Truman Administration?

You haven't driven far enough on I80! Nevada has what 2 roads to take care of? And an endless supply of gambling money flowing in. Californias portion of I80 is peachy! Drive I80 through Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania and you can post your bills for shocks, struts, tie rods and fillings here for comparison! lmaosmiley.gif (And definitely DO NOT travel too far off I80....it gets MUCH worse on the County roads!) If you have driven Scott Rd. from Folsom to RM...that is comporable to a typical road in any of those other states (some flatter, none smoother)

Ditto on the basements!
