Map: Where local fatal car wrecks happen

About 160 people died on the Sacramento region's roads during 2009, similar to the number from 2008. Sacramento County saw an increase in fatalities from 84 in 2008 to 99 during 2009. That increase was offset completely, though, by a decrease in fatal wrecks in the suburbs.

This map shows the location of every 2009 fatal car wreck.

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

I noticed earlier this week the Bee showed the locations in Sac where they are doing some sync on the lights. Many of those locations are similar to the higher areas of fatalities.

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

I wish the data were a little easier to mine... how many of them were alcohol related, how many were left turns, whether any were just car malfunctions, etc. Some of that info is in the map but it's not tabulated anywhere.
