Some arguments on both sides here from the cable providers (evil Comcast of course) and the good guy (Netflix/Hulu) as to what will come.

In the long run this does feel like a govt power grab and the resulting Obamanet here is just going to lead to higher prices and a way to gather more taxes. Funny that 5 people (3 Dems voted yes, 2 Rep voted no) can create this sweeping of a change just like that.

Thoughts?

This is why votes matter. Unelected bureaucrats have the power to set rules as they see fit without debate from a legislative body. The biggest clue that this 300 page pile o garbage is just that is that it was written in secret and will only be released AFTER the vote. Anybody else remember, "We have to pass the bill to see what is in the bill"

300 pages of broad sweeping powers for the inept FCC. Gee, how can this go wrong? Why is the internet so successful at attracting entrepreneurs? Because there is little to no government intervention. This is a bs fix for a problem that doesn't exist.

If you like broad overreach by government agencies into ever aspect of your life, you'll love this.

And here is the fallout. Verizon has slowed it's fiber optic rollout, and will now focus on wireless.http://www.digitaltr...coast-services/

I seem to recall a certain someone saying they will have the "most transparent administration ever." Right.

And for those who think the evil Telecoms are bad what goodness do they think any Govt regulation will bring? Lot's of Libs saying "we won!!" and will be singing a different tune in about 1-2 years. As if the ACA wasn't enough of a joke to prove these types of things.

Fiber optic is the best conduit for data so far. It's far superior to copper for most applications.

Best tweets so far:

So the same administration that can't create a website just took over the internet?

FCC approves "open" internet rules in secret

If you like your internet, you can keep your internet.....probably not.

Nothing makes these (censored)s happier than having another industry to milk dry.

Here is Pres. Obama's revised 317-page plan to regulate the Internet. The public still can't see it. I'm voting no.

We're going to hold a vote on a panel you can't vote for on a bill you can't see on an issue you have no input on.

So the FCC just passed a slew of unknown, unread, and hidden regulations on a topic no one understands. This is why government is jacked.

(my favorite) Nothing says freedom like control and regulation

Before today, the internet was the last truly democratic means of having your voice heard. Now, the government is in control.

Nobody gave the FCC the authority to do what they just did except themselves.
