Hard to say. Great player sure, total distraction yes. Past the Technical Foul limit at the All Star break! And probably not a great "team player" but he was the best they had.
However, as long as Divac and that clown owner Ranadive are in charge this team is going no where. They are literally the laughing stock of the NBA. Neither have ever made a good choice or signing and how many times are they going to "rebuild" and "change the culture" of the team?
It's amazing they still have as many fans as they do but there really isn't any other game in Sac now is there? If you think about it the Kings could have had:
George Karl coaching with Cousins, Gay, Seth Curry, and Isiah Thomas all in the starting line up! LOL.

I'm glad he's gone. The Kings gave him 6 or 7 years to grow up, but he just couldn't do it. Yes, he's a great talent on the court, but his antics and immaturity (in addition to major financial considerations) finally doomed his stay in Sacramento. Many fans were sick of his act and wouldn't go to games or even watch on TV. THAT'S a problem.
And even if the Kings were a good team, fans still want to cheer for *good people*. People say "winning cures everything", but when your star player acts like a punk, that doesn't reflect well on the team and organization as a whole. And Cousins never could grasp that concept.

I say, good riddance. Not that they got anything for him. I look at it like this, when Weber, Divac, Christy and espescially Jackson were here, we loved to go to the games. Not because we were huge basketball fans, but because we liked the players. They were great ambassadors to their sport both on and off the court. You won't get wives, girlfriends or casual fans excited to go see a punk surrounded by fair to middlin talent. Just my take.

If the Kings were going to make any noise with him in the lineup, it would have happened by now. I don't think the team had a positive leader or any sense of chemistry with him on the team. He is very passionate and very talented... but I do think he was a cancer in the locker room. I think all he did was make teammates bitter. Unless they were getting another superstar, he couldn't shoulder the load. I envision he'll do well in New Orleans and everyone will talk about how we got robbed. If he were traded to another team without much for talent, they'd suffer the same fate: low lottery team. If he stuck around for another 6 years, I really don't see how anything could change. Praying for a luck lottery bounce or throwing money at anyone who was passed over elsewhere is not a good mix.
The Kings need to seriously unload, and build some talent around a bunch of youngsters who really have nothing to lose. J-Will, C-Webb, DC & the boys were fun to watch because they just had fun on the court. What I'd do to see a kid like J-Will on the team again.
