Hi,

My family is planning on moving and we are looking for a house in Folsom.  We have just listed our house for sale.  Pickings are slim, so it’s likely we’re going to have to rent a house as we continue to look.  Unfortunately, what few rentals exist require a 1-year lease, which would make it close to impossible to purchase any house that came along (house payment and rent!).   We would prefer to rent in the areas that we would want to buy (ARC North, Empire Ranch, Parkway) so that our children don’t have to change schools any more than necessary.  At this point, we will also look into renting an apartment.  If anyone has any information that might help us out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Contact www.homerunrentals.com and www.ktbpropertymgmt.com to see what they've got.

Unfortunately, there's slim pickin's for rentals as well right now, and there are so many looking for and willing to commit to leases, it can be difficult to find a good month-to-month or other short-terms.

You may want to throw your stuff in storage and rent an apartment for a while.

Inventory is increasing, so if you're still interested in buying, there might be some opportunities, and there are a few new housing areas as well.

With houses it may be different, but when we broke our lease on our apartment to move, it was just a couple hundred bucks in fees. Small potatoes compared to buying a house.

A friend had a client who had relocated here and signed a lease on a house just so they'd have a place to live, then, with prices rising he decided that paying to break the lease would be better than taking the risk of higher home prices and interest rates, both of which have happened.
