2 words for why to use Firefox:  Mouse Gestures

Here's the link for those who are interested:

https://update.mozil...p?id=39&vid=810

I just installed it, looks very interesting. It definitely has a learning curve, but could prove very useful.

Thanks for the tip.

I got Firefox while it was in beta testing and I LOVE IT. I only use IE where sites aren't written for Mozilla. Extensions, themes, tabbed browsing, higher level of security, there's nothing better.

Get the iView extension.. lets you right click and "View this page in IE" when you run across incompatable sites.

I also use AdBlock (right mouse click, block ad) and it filters out annoying banner ads with wildcards (and full regex support, Mmm). Although don't forget to support MyFolsom advertisers and not block them smile.gif

Bish, Add a few gestures to MouseGestures, I use left-down as "go back 2" and left-down-up as "open referer" .. excellent for getting back through allowed popup windows.

Long live FireFox!

Just an fyi, I'm new to Firefox, but it is AMAZING how much quicker pages load on it. A couple of websites that normally take a while, like FARK.com, come up in a fraction of the time.

Firefox will gain in popularity very quickly, methinks. wink.gif

Every time I have to use IE again I realize why I switched over a year ago.

If you find yourself spending more time sorting your e-mail than reading it, consider the Mozilla Foundation's new Thunderbird e-mail client. The free program, which complements the group's Firefox browser, combines advanced e-mail sorting functions, first-rate spam filters, and lightning-fast performance to help you cut through your inbox like a hot knife through butter.

Go Firefox!!!!

Firefox Passes 10 Million Mark - Eyes 10%
Tue Dec 14, 2:05 PM ET Technology - NewsFactor
http://story.news.ya...=13&u=/nf/29039
Elizabeth Millard, www.newsfactor.com

Open-source browser Firefox has been downloaded over 10 million times since its November release, according to the Mozilla Foundation.

Mozilla's Web site notes that it took the group 10 days to reach 2 million downloads of the Firefox preview release. The current milestone surpasses that achievement by quintupling the download number in only 32 days.

Mozilla has said that its goal is to gain 10 percent of the market over the next year, a figure that seems attainable to many, given the browser's speedy adoption rate.

Firefox seems to have a tremendous amount of momentum right now, I just hope people don't make a big deal out of finding out that yes, even firefox has flaws.

What i want to see though, is a Firefox flaw or exploit, and see Firefox update it within minutes, and have their millions of users update as well. that quickly (the next time they open their browser)

Then maybe we'll get some credibility.

IE blows.

Since Firefox isn't tied into the OS as much as IE is I doubt there will be any serious flaws found in Firefox for a while.

I found a bug in Firefox.. when you right-click a form field you can "Add a keyword to this search". Unfortunately, when the field was named "action" it screwed up the %s substitution in the keyword search.

It turned out to be a simple code typo, but the developers picked up my bug report, figured it out with my example code, and created a fix patch within 2 days.

I've filed over a dozen bug reports for IE, even specific ones and provided workarounds/fixes, and haven't seen a single one of them published in 5 years.

You can totally crash IE with message boxes smile.gif Under a single IE thread, create about 14 pages (I can't remember the total number that triggers it). Then, run a script that opens a message box. Do this with the other thirteen and whamo! IE hangs and the CPU utilization pegs. I think this happens even if you close the box and popup another on the same thread. Oh, and it only happens with VBScript messagebox calls (msgbox). JavaScript is apparently immune.

Luckily, there isn't a whole lot of message boxes out there.

Post your favorite IE bugs here!

*Bump*

Not a good week for us Firefox users. If this becomes commonplace I'll switch back to Opera...

I don't think M$ is going to fess up that they have bugs. I think thats why they created that bug tracker, that silly pop up that comes up when OS or Apps crashes and then popup window comes up asking you to submit or don't submit.

M$ is good at announcing to the world that they have a *security fix* due in large part to good people like you Mylo. But M$ will never admit that bowdown.gif blink.gif thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
