Ok- I have downloaded Firefox and am using it now. But as I have used Netscape since they started and they now have version 8.0 which seems to have all of the Firefox elements in it... what are the differences >?

Netscape is still bloated! Firefox can be as big or as small as you like it. Personally, I like my software lean and mean. Firefox lets you customize it.
