It's hard to beat the impact of the sound of exercising a shotgun's action.

The oldie but goody Joe Biden shotgun video.

Classic....

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

I take it that you had a chance to try both the AR and the shotgun. AR has benefits over the shotgun?

Kind of a lame move in the video to give those girls a shotgun and not show them how to handle it properly. Clearly they trusted the boy friend/dad/brother to show them properly and he let them down.
Also for a lighter lady the 12 is probably a bit much. A 20 is probably easier to handle.

A single shot 410 shotgun is the most appropriate shotgun for most women...

I disagree, but I'm curious why you think so. Both my wife and daughter have no problem with a 20 gauge. The only issue they have is holding the weight of the shotgun for an extended period like when shooting clays. Heck, even my arm gets tired of holding up the 12 gauge after the first hour of playtime. Just not used to extensive use of those particular muscles I guess. For the few minutes of adrenaline infused home defense, it would be no problem.

I have not shot a shotgun recently. But I did shot my friend's AR and I was amazed how light & easy it was to shoot. Plus capacity is higher.

Going to range this week so I will be double checking your recommendations.
