When people say that they don't trust it or that it is a scam, for who? Why? Are other medications and cures scams as well or just the flu?

I truly don't understand it.

Flu shots don't solve the problem.  Just recently a five year old boy who had received the flu shot died of the H1N1 flu.  Having said that, I get mine every year and have for some time.

It's a scam by the pharmaceutical companies. They push for everyone to get it when in reality most people do not need it.

I heard yesterday that the flu shot helps in 50% of the cases. My husband gets it every year, usually stays healthy, and got very sick this year. I didn't get the shot and tried desperately to avoid catching it from him and got it anyway. This is a bad, bad bug. I don't begrudge anyone who gets it or doesn't.

okay, while I said before I wouldn't get mine, I got one today.  I have eight of my closest friends all sick as dogs, needing me to bring them chicken soup and mucinex and just racked with coughing and chills.  So.........  I'm not afraid to change my mind when I see a big risk and this year seems like a bad one.  Plus it was free at Kaiser and I was already there for another routine exam.....

It takes a couple of weeks for it to protect you(if it really does), so be careful!

I'm 51 years old, never had the flu, never had the flu shot, and haven't had a cold in 6 years. I would still recommend the flu shot for most people based on the CDCs reports. Because I've never had the flu and rarely get a cold, I prefer to continue with my lifestyle. My wife , though, gets a flu shot every year, and hasn't had the flu since the '80s. I realize this is anecdotal, but just my observation.
