Ok, so I know voting for 'best' whatever, is very subjective, but the choices out there, really?

Is this the best of American music?

Does every song need a either a big dance number or a rapper to come out from back stage to add some nonsense to it?

Should be the 'pop music kids are listening to'.  And it's terrible.

There, I feel much better.

I remember last year we lamented the same thing.

Think of the AMA's as basically a show about what 13-year-old girls are listening to (i.e. what they are being fed by the industry).

It's the same as any other consumable. Most people prefer things that are familiar and that don't challenge them intellectually, physically and/or emotionally. Or, in other words, people generally like crappy stuff that sucks.

When I used to drive my kids to school, I would make them listen to "oldies" and R&B. I told them to think of it as vitamins for their soul...
