Guy featured the Squeeze Inn on one of his shows: http://thesqueezeinn.com/

They put so much cheese on this puppy, it makes a "skirt." Some people eat the excess cheese by itself, and others squeeze it in the sandwich.

Mmmm... Squeeze w/cheese.

You also MUST try:

Ford's Real Hamburgers near the zoo downtown. Yummy shakes, too.

Ikeda's up in Auburn. It's a fabulous local fruit and veggie stand plus a burger/sandwich joint. EXCELLENT! Deeelicious shakes, smoothies and ice cream too.

And, my personal favorite:
Nationwide Freezer meats on 20th and H downtown. They're now open 'til 9:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. It's worth the drive. You can get a single made with fresh, exceptionally high quality beef -- or, you can opt for the $16 quad burger. They have their buns made to order. These aren't air-puffed cardboard. They're a but pricey for a burger place, but it's truly worth it. Their fries are scrumptious. They're kind of like steak fries, but better and FRESH! My understanding is that Nationwide has an incredible steak sandwich, but I've yet to try one.

Nationwide isn't fancy, but it's really, really good. They have my alltime favorite shakes. Order one with banana. Mmmmm.. Mmmmmm.. Mmmmmm!

Enjoy!

Pari.

Ya, he is not looking for a fancy place. He wants the old fashoned, good food.

I guess we will have to give some of these a try.

Yep ! You are all right !! The Squeeze with cheese is great !! But just try getting into the place.... after Guy Fiero showcased in on the Food Network Channel they are even busier than before...Nationwide and Ikeda's are also very good as well as Fords. But let me make another suggestion, Try the real DIVE !! it's called Jerry's Tumbleweed In on Folsom Blvd. in Rancho. First a fair warning... It's a bar #1 that serves up some lunch. Be warned I would not take the little rug rats there at all.But for a kick-arse burger this one is hard to beat just in flavor alone...it's a real juicy 5 napkin monstrosity...

That's a great show, I watch it all the time

and you can tell your DH that there are a LOT of places like that around here...

Being a motorcycle rider, my buddies and I have stopped and seen lots of old funky dive food places around here during our travels.

here's a few off the top of my head.

Incahoots BBQ in Plymouth - this place is one of the best dive bbq joints in the entire region but yet remains relatively unknown because its way out in Plymouth and the best part is they serve EVERYTHING, from bbq, to mexican to pizza to burgers and much more

Jaspers Giant Burgers Fair Oaks - this place is a throw back to the 50's diner scene with a space theme. Very good very big burgers

Marlene & Glenn's Diner Plymouth - going to this place is like stepping back in time. Another classic old style restaurant with serious character, they server breakfast and lunch and have everything you like on the menu.

The old ORIGINAL Mels in Jackson

Poor Reds in El Dorado - it's a really funky old bar and restaurant that does a killer bbq

Al's Place in Lock - it's another really old funky place in the old Chinese town of Lock next to the river - they serve really great steak here
