It's that time. Our roof is 24 years old and begging for a replacement.
I welcome your recommendations for a roofer as well as the materials you went with and why (benefits).

A composition roof will be the cheapest and is the most common. Tile is superior for longevity, however, your roof must be engineered to support the weight. Shake is a no-no for durability and fire. Other than that, I can't tell you much more... Make sure the contractor is insured for both liability and workman's comp (required by law anyway). Make sure his insurance is in good standing.
