I just heard that El Rincon has closed.

Some say it was because of an increase in rent and taxes, but I think that's just a tough place to do business.

If you're a big name, like Peet's Coffee or T-Mobile, customers might battle the traffic and hassle of getting there, but for a casual eatery it's tough.

There's a lot of drive-by traffic, but the problem is they are driving by pretty fast.

I was trying to think of the businesses that have failed there. I know there was a sushi joint, I believe a Quiznos, a home theater company, and one or more other restaurants.

I recently noticed that Felipe's has closed, too.

Dang it.  I really liked them.  It seemed like they got business from the nearby medical offices, but I guess it wasn't enough.

Competition...  Just too many Mexican joints in this town for them all to survive IMO.  Bad locations will fail first followed by bad food.

I only ate at El Rincon a couple of times and thought it was pretty good.

I hope and expect Sutter St. Taqueria to do well when the are finally able to open.

I think they are still wrestling with regulations.

That's really too bad.  Hubby usually went there on Sundays to get me a take-out breakfast -- it was really the only place in town that could serve up a simple order of scrambled eggs/sausage/hash browns that I could actually devour without requiring a dose of Zantac and/or Pepto Bismol afterwards!!!!  Will miss their convenient location (for us, anyway) and certainly hope they relocate in Folsom sometime soon.

That's a bummer. My daughter works at Reloveit in that shopping center and the parking lot is always full. I know many people who loved to eat there.

Yea, I don't think it can said it was a bad location. They were in business there for many years. 9 or 10? If it was such a bad spot I figure they would have been closed up within a year or two.

I'm sorry to hear they've closed. We enjoyed their good food and friendly service. I wish the family well.

We were sad finding out that El Rincon closed, hopefully they have moved somewhere else. We followed Juan since he was running Sharky's. My youngest son used to make a beeline to Rincon whenever he was in town. He is really upset to find out that they are gone.

If anyone finds out if they have a new location I would be grateful for the information.

I didn't know they were the people behind Sharky's! I used to love that place.

Too bad. I kind of watched his son grow up at the restaurant. He's probably out of high school now.

The owners of Rincon did tell us that his lease was up and the owners were looking to increase the rent significantly.  Went there on a Sunday morning for breakfast and back again that evening for a false alarm.  They gutted everything they owned from that place.  I have a feeling business was pretty brisk there.  Every weekday morning we went there the place was pretty packed and they always seemed to be loading the van up for another catering event.  It's a bummer, because that place had really good food.

Yep, the youngest is now at Cal Berkley in their engineering program.. Smart kid... I used to visit 3-4 times per week and maybe once on a weekend. I loved the place.. I know Juan isn't a quitter, so I'm sure he will surface soon or at least I hope so..
