Yes!!!

There is too much inconsistency in the strike zone. You never know what you are going to get.

Yep, baseball is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get. lmaosmiley.gif

I've got a question for all of you who feel the NBA is rigged.

If CW, Steve, CV and DrKos all believe the NBA is rigged, why were you all so eager to raise your taxes to build a new Arena for a league that is rigged?

Because I enjoy watching the Kings. The Kings are not the NBA. The Kings are the ones who got screwed by the NBA.

What's funny to me is that all of the people that are shocked and outraged that the NBA is a business for "entertainment" (i.e. 7 games $ is greater than 5 games money, Air Jordans sell more than Air Ehlo, etc.) all speak with the same emotion that I heard WWE fans use when people would say "Wrestling is fake!"

The NBA only resembles REAL basketball. There are specific rules that govern the game and those have been "tweaked" and adjusted for MORE entertainment value.

Since we have had some "tangent" conversations about other sports, lets say the PGA allowed a little "flexibility" with the ball placement and it was "ok" to drop the ball "anywhere close" to where it landed (travel). Or how about we allow the really popular PGA players to use their own clubs, regardless of regulations (similar to a hand on the hip by a superstar, Jordan on Byron Russell). It all sounds ludicrous, but thats what I see when I watch the NBA now....an abstract...a mutation of basketball.

There's always questions when you automate things, though. If you remove the ump from calling pitches, it will change the character and psychology of the game dramatically.

We have similar debates all the time about traction control in racing. It's safer to have it but it makes the driver's skill less of a factor when gassing it out of turns.

I'm having a real hard time trying to understand the meaning of these two sentences put together like this....sounds like you'd be better off going to a High School game then.

I was in favor of the arena because I like the Kings and didn't want to lose them, and because I thought the building of the arena would bring people, money and jobs to Sac and help the image of our town, which, in turn would bring people, money and jobs to the area. It had nothing to do with whether the game is rigged or not.

Also, SUSPECTING the game of being rigged is a lot different than the testimony or claims from an actual league official.

Regarding the hip-hop image, it is not as pervasive as you might imagine. I don't like the Lakers or the Celtics, but both have some class players.

The baseball strike zone issue is one that will get debated forever. For one thing, the zone is unique to each player and a player can change it by shortening or extending his stance.

Disgraced NBA ref accuses league of fixing 2002 Playoffs

Not that he's the most reputable source, nor does he specify what series it was - but if he's telling the truth the Kings were officially cheated out of the NBA Finals in '02.

Well its been 9 days since this story broke and NOT a single person is speaking up confirming what the convicted felon and gambler is claiming.

The Bee has run a couple of good stories about game 6, the NBA and opinions about how the NBA was NOT involved in this.

Anybody still believe the convicted felon & gambler?

Don't know if I believe the ref anymore but I do believe that the King's still suck and they will never make it back to the West finals again!

Just because nobody else is going to put their career on the line doesn't mean nobody believes him.

Robert, you clearly have an axe to grind against professional sports for some reason, and I think it clouds your judgement. I think you'd rather a Bass Pro Shop go up downtown and the Kings leave for greener pastures. Tell me I'm wrong.

John, I'd rather the Bass Pro Shops be built in Folsom as it will be a huge source of revenue! I tried to do that about 12 years ago.

I am a Kings fan and feel they are on the right path to getting back to possibly winning again. If Boston can add 2 players and win it all so can the Kings! The Kings are a lot closer than now than Boston was last year, so I am optimistic. If they can keep Artest's head on and pick up a real stud, who wants to win, they will be winners again.

I never believed the Kings with Weber would ever win it all despite his talents. Even if the Kings beat LA, I could just see them loosing to the Nets even though the Kings were the better team.

My axe to grind was/is with BOS and Sac City who were pulling the wool over peoples eyes over their real intent regarding the Arena, which was to raise taxes county wide and route the money to back themselves, to pay for their failed social policies.

It was disappointing to see so many on here be so gullible as to what was the real agenda regarding this. My continued sarcasm of this is simply these politicians are desperately plotting to get others to pay for their failures. Don't be surprsied if they don't come up with some touchy feel good idea how to raise your taxes again in November. Unlike the City of Folsom, the BOS and Sac City are facing huge deficits and its their inherrent philosophy to get others to pay for what they want.

My message is don't be so gullible that you believe convicted felons regarding issues you have an emotional connection too AND don't believe LIBERAL politicians when they want to raise your taxes.

Until we hold politicians accountable on how they spend our tax dollars they will NEVER have enough!
