Big Ten Football

The Big Ten is by far the best conference in football this year. The number 1 and 2 slot belong to two undefeated (11-0) Big Ten teams (Ohio State and Michigan).
Also... Wisconsin is now number 9 in the BCS.
Yep... that puts 3 of the top 9 teams in the BCS from the Big Ten. Heck... if the BIG GAME this weekend ends up close... OSU and Michigan deserve to play again in the title game!

The topic title and description says it all.

Yep, we're ranked 9th -- but can't go to a BCS bowl. Michigan and OSU are too far ahead in the rankings for either one to drop below the Badgers and only two teams from any given conference gain entry to a BCS bowl. So, showing yet another flaw of the BCS system (I hope that someday it's all figured out, somehow), depending on how the end of the season plays out, Wisconsin could be ranked even higher than ninth in the nation and will still end up at the Capitol One bowl like last year. I'm really happy and proud of the team and the rookie coach, but what an anti-climatic end to the season.
And, believe it or not, I'll be strongly rooting for the Wolverines come this Saturday. Esp. now that West Virginia's down from the top 5.
That said, if Michigan and OSU end up #1 & #2, I don't want to see them play each other! We will already know who is the winner of that matchup. Just seems redundant, IMHO.

you all forgot about Mighty Rutgers. They're undefeated so they should get the championship game bid right?
I'm thinking it'll be tough for the Scarlet Knights to get past the teams ahead of them. USC and Notre Dame play each other. So essentially, we have a psuedo playoff system - #1 plays #2 and #3 plays #5. The winners of these two games will probably wind up #1 and #2 in the BCS. I doubt Florida and Rutgers can sneak past.

You just ruined my day. I had forgotten about that rule!
The BCS sucks... period. The Badgers may end up number 6 in the BCS... but can do nothing about it. What a broken system!
Yuck... Michigan... gotta pull for OSU.

I know, I'm taking one for the team in the name of family harmony. Never thought I'd see the day! I'll root for Michigan when they are playing non-conference teams because I always want to see the Big 10 win, but this is a new one for me.

Needs to be a playoff system where the top 10 teams play a bracket tourney at the end of the season. Would get rid of the lull in December while we wait for bowl games to start. Bowl games would be then assigned 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 etc.
Interesting in theory, but then these college students would have games during finals.

I don't know, the SEC has some pretty good teams.
I would definitely put them second. Florida... Arkansas... and LSU are tough! I am wondering if Arkansas' loss to USC at the beginning of the year was a fluke. They got a beat down... 50-7... at home... if I remember correctly.
Go BIG BLUE .....
I would post my rendition of the Michigan fight song... but I think its a little too vulgar for this board.
What's the best thing to come out of Michigan? I-75 to the south.
(It definitely isn't a car )

I know that song, Hail to those big....
So hard not to sing those words around the kids when my husband's singing the proper Victors song. Luckily, my kids know the words to "If you want to be a Badger."
