I have Dishnetwork and I am very happy with the service I have for my television viewing. My monthly bill is $30 plus taxes and I would like to get something to record shows when I cannot be home to watch them. Are there alternatives to the DVR (Tivo) units? I have a PC I can designate solely to use to record shows, but I don't know what kind of software is best to do this kind of thing. Anyone have information that will help me solve this issue? I'm trying to get away from spending $17 per month for dvr and rental fees.
