Yeah, because The Ravine, right across the street, doesn't serve alcohol at all. :eyeroll:

(Not to pick on The Ravine, but as the Strikes owner states in the article, there are many places where alcohol is available, that aren't "bars".)
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY GIRL.
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

That's goofy that lady doesn't want it there because of alcohol when as you pointed out The Ravine is there - and also Mesquite which serves alcohol, the wine bar and maybe one more place too.... thats a pretty weak reason to not want the bowling ally there... this sounds more like a case of NIMBY people...

heck, they should put it in the old 24 hour fitness place on Bidwell... lots of room there...

I think Strikes would be a great addition to Folsom. I don't take my kids to the current bowling alley but maybe once every couple of years. Strikes looks like a lot more family oriented fun!

Speaking as a Realtor, I don't believe that property values would go down based on Strikes being there. Might go up. Families from both Briggs Ranch & Empire Ranch could walk and have some family fun.

I will be more than happy to head up a group in favor of Strikes.

There is a STRIKES in Rocklin and we have been there for B-day parties, Brownie events and as a family. It is a very nice facility--clean, big and family oriented. When we have been to the one in Rocklin, it is not a huge drunk -a- thon. People were having pizza and beer while they bowled. I really don't see what the big deal is. We, as a family, are really excited it is coming to town.

isn't there some sort of bowlers union law that states that beer must be served in bowling alleys? smile.gif

I can't imagine a bowling alley without beer. I think Strikes is going to be a GREAT addition to Folsom. I think the Folsom Lake Bowl is more oriented towards its casino area anyway. They won't be hurt by this new place. The new one will draw a crowd that presently won't go to the old Folsom Lake Bowl.

You are correct.

And there was another requirement, back in the day, that a huge cloud of cigarette smoke was supposed to hover over the lanes.

No more. The "anti-smoking, second-hand smoke, cigarettes are the devil" Nazi's took care of that.

That woman is an idiot! Hello? Does she really think "alcoholics" only go to bowling alleys? If anything, they probably don't. They're getting hammered in their family room and driving past Empire Oaks at 11am. I get so irritated when people don't even think things through.

I'm all for the bowling alley. I'd love to have a family entertainment area. And, oh the horror, I enjoy having a cocktail now and then!

It wouldn't be Folsom without overblown hysterics over any new business that isn't a Starbucks.
