Hi neighbors,
I am the mother of a nine year old autistic daughter who has a very frightening habit of running away every chance she can. Our house is like Fort Knox, we have deadbolts and keys for every exit from our home and are hypervigilante about supervising her but she is very clever and has managed to find the right key, slip out undetected, ect. on a few occassions. We have had to call Folsom PD twice in the past six months to help us find her. It is truly a nightmare - fortunately she has never gone missing for more than a few minutes.
She runs away (and I mean RUNS) and then will start trying to enter people's homes. On one occasion she was able to get in someone's home, find their keys and tried to open their car door! She is quite verbal and is able to tell her name, address and phone number and we have located her before because someone called us to tell us she walked in their living room and was able to tell them who she was and her phone number.
We are in the process of investigating personal tracking and/or GPS systems, so an alarm can alert us that she has slipped out of a certain range and tell us the direction she has gone. Does anyone have any knowledge of such systems ?- there are a few advertised on the net, mostly for Alzheimer's patients but we need one and FAST. The stress of this is taking its toll.
She is a darling blonde haired, blue eyed child - very slight - and if you ever see someone matching her description or trying to enter your home please intervene and make sure she doesn't get away. Call the Folsom PD(they have her photo and all her information) and/or ask her for her telephone # - she'll tell you. She is smart but unfortunately does not have any concept of danger which is very, very disconcerting.
Thank you!
Autistic Child

You might want to post your request for information about tracking devices on the Open Topic Forum. Many more members read that forum. (You may only get the advice of a few on your neighborhood forum.)
I wish you the best with regards to your daughter.

Try Wherify. They have a GPS watch that locks on a person's wrist. That just may do the trick.
