I think we can all agree the United States is in a sorry state today.  

We are divided. Neither side is willing to entertain the possibility that they might be wrong, or, heaven forbit, the “other side” might have valid beliefs.

We forget the second half of the motto “United we stand” is “divided we fall.”

I believe the best resolution to this is a spiritual one.
Who’s right? Who’s wrong?

Those filled with loving-kindness are always right. 

 

The one person here closest to the answer is - - < drumroll please! > - -    2Aces,  
with his mantra of “Fake News.” Because this entire material existence is fake news.
The great spiritual thinkers, from Lao Tzu to the Mayans, the Hindus to the Buddhists,
and even some Christian references (my Kingdom is not of this world)  all allude to the
idea of non-dualism, the idea that we remain connected to our Creator: and having one
Father we are all brothers.

2Aces, though, doesn’t go far enough. It’s ALL fake news. Do you really think there
are Political Action Committees in the spiritual realms? There are no political parties there.
No shopping malls or nuclear plants. It’s rather a state of being where everyone
communicates telepathically and recognizes each other as brothers and sisters.
You cannot recognize that literally divine state when you harbor hatred for your  
fellow man, who are all “Children of God.” Yes, even Trump, even Obama, even Hillary,   
even the NRA members.

I don't believe Buddhists believe in one God or father. Nor do those that believe in Confucianism.  The one God is primarily tied to Islam, Judaism an Christianity.

I do agree with you on what is truly important though.

So the left does everything they can to deny rights to religious people in this country (except the religion of peace, of which they are deathly afraid of), confuse genders, make bathrooms confusing to the general public, give illegals drivers licenses and college scholarships funded by my tax dollars, hate the police, hate the military, love BLM and Antifa, love North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela, weaponize government agencies against their political rivals (think IRS, FBI, DOJ), raise taxes beyond any kind of rationality (think the AMT and death taxes, CA gas and property taxes), and make it so their unions can tell them how to vote but my priest or pastor will go to jail if they do.  Make it so I can't give a 14 year old a Tylenol to take at lunch but two perfect strangers to me can come to her school, take her to have an abortion, and then return her to school without ever telling me...?   And then use any national shooting tragedy to take my constitutional rights away while they go about creating fantasy "gun free zones" all over the country....?  The ones who tell a rancher or farmer they can't use their land or their water, their pond like they used to do so for the last 130 years because a Salamander or Butterfly is now endangered...?   So, who really is to blame for a divided nation again...?  You really need to put yourself in the shoes of others and look back on what you have done (the collective left) and what you are trying to do to us, the other half, to this very day.....!  Chris

The ones I hear complaining the most about our country is the liberal left. Shouldn't they be preached to about "loving kindness"?

What I see are a group of people who dream of remaking our country into everything THEY want, and in doing so, stomping on the rights of others to even so much as say they don't agree! As well as stomping on others, literally.

 

The hatred, violence and condemnation is coming from the left.  Aren't THEY doing this to THEMSELVES?

 

The liberal left are the ones crying about the acts of others and how everyone should change their feelings to accommodate them.

There's a very common trap many of us fall into where we have a behavior stuck in the back of our

heads that we don't like, so we twist is and project it out on our "enemies." It's called projection.

You can never be happy with that coping mechanism, because now the source of your

happiness is dependent on what someone ELSE must do for your salvation.
It's always somebody else in this scenario, and never the self.

The lament is that it has become fashionable, even encouraged that we vilify our neighbors.
Seems now that it's OK to hate, demean anyone who thinks differently.
