The planets are really putting on a show this month!  Venus was just a finger width away from the moon a few nights ago, and currently Mars is the largest and brightest it has been since 2003. Easily visible and colorful. Saturn and Jupiter are also showing. If you have a small telescope, or even nice binoculars, take some time and look to the south. From east to west, the bright "stars" will be Mars, Saturn and Jupiter with Venus being visible just after sunset to the west.

There is also a new green comet that may make a spectacular show in August. Watch the news for info

Joe, I saw that the last few nights.......   In Maui, sitting on a beach at night, right below the crescent moon.......   Thinking it was Jupiter or Venus..........    Super cool there, no excess light to get in your way of the stars.......!   Lots of stars to see in the middle of the Pacific Ocean......    unlike here............   Back to the heat and no good astronomy due to the excess light from humans.................  But good to be home....  Chris
