Free Water-Wise Landscaping Workshop
Presented by Cheryl Buckwalter, educator, consultant, and residential landscape designer
A Watershed Approach to Softscape: Everything we do in our landscapes can help to
protect and improve the integrity of one of California’s key ecosystems – the Sacramento
region’s watershed. This presentation focuses on the landscape’s “Softscape” – that
means plants! They are the elements of our landscapes that generate ever-changing
beauty. Selecting, placing, planting, and caring for plants is a process that yields many
rewards, including soil and plant health; serving an intended purpose; providing color,
texture, and year-round interest; reducing water needs once established; providing habitat
for birds, pollinators, and beneficial insects; and reducing erosion and pollutants from
entering our waterways. Join us to learn how your landscape’s softscape supports a
healthy watershed with climate-appropriate, easy-care plants.
Workshop registration opens May 1.
