Let us play a little game. There was two things that I "wished" folsom had when I moved here more than three years ago.
1) Costco
2)Trader Joes.
My wishes came true !
Now I am asking the members to fill in the blanks. You can make this a fun excerise. Like I wish there was a ____________ (Kenny Rogers Chicken) in Folsom. Now you have to explain what this chain/store is if there isnt one here in the sacramento region.
My favorite chicken place in Southern Ca was Kenny Rogers (the country singer) chicken.

While I'm at it, how about a Farmers Market. There really is no good place to get quality produce around here. A weekly, farmers market would be a great fit in Historic Folsom!

- A Mall!
I also wish there was a small theater for off-Broadway shows. I recently went to the historic Roseville theater to see a play there - very small (only a few hundred seating), but it was very cool! So much better than Music Circus - cheaper tickets and better seating!
Oh, I would LOVE a Kenny Rogers Roasters here!!! My wife and I fell in love with that place last summer when we were working in Malaysia for a couple months!

When I lived in Southern CA, I used to go to "Mrs Gooch" which got bought by Whole Foods. I loved it there. I really think it would do very well in Folsom.
Frys is a good idea as well. In N Out would be great, but the traffic would be insane. Once IN N Out comes, then Krispy Kreme will follow as we gorge ourselves with these guilty pleasures.

This would fulfill the request for a large Asian market. My wife used to go to the one in El Cerrito/Richmond area. Now she bugs me about going back all the time.

Jazz Club - That one by the Natoma Inn wasn't very good, and it didn't last
Pasta Pomodoro (it's a small SF based chain that serves good inexpensive Italian food. Everything is fresh, and you get it pretty quick).

Asian Market
Nice sports bar and grill
Il Fornaio on Sutter St (upscale chain of Italian restaurants)

I wish there was a Ranch 99. This would fulfill the request for a large Asian market. My wife used to go to the one in El Cerrito/Richmond area. Now she bugs me about going back all the time. |
I heard that there will be a large Asian Shopping Center coming to Rancho Cordova.

very fast and inexpensive Italian food , but the quality is amazing. I wish I had some $$ to get one of those in Folsom. For like $5.99 you get a whole meal that is fresh and filling. That place was always packed in Southern CA. They even had a drive thru on some of them and was not like the typical fast food joint. It was fresh, fast, healthy, and affordable.

I wish there was a cheap Thai restaurant - the two here are too fancy. I just want good quick food and a place I can take my kids.
Also vietnamese! How about a german deli.
Bounceopolis or Chuck E Cheese
In Portland there's a great pizza place that has a wonderful playland for kids. It's in the center of the restaurant, surrounded in sound proof windows with tables by them so you could watch your kids & not have to hear them. Plus they have good pizza and referees keeping the playland under control. I think a place like that would do great here!
How about a fast food greek restaurant where I can get a good greasy gryo & souvlaki. The kabob house people gave me nasty looks when I brought my mostly well behaved kids.
And a Great Harvest Bread company, they make the best whole grain breads. I could live on their bread.
I'll keep dreaming - Trader Joes is a dream come true for me too!
