On the Boarder Mexican Cantina. They have THE best nachos and Salsa anywhere. I go all the way to Roseville for that.

There are already a couple places to get good hamburgers in Folsom plus In-N-Out burger coming later, but it wouldn't hurt to have another.

More on Chinese restaurants in Folsom. We haven't found one restaurant that can offer a COMPLETE menu of the different groups (soups, chicken, pork, beef, seafood, and vegetables) making it difficult to eat in a family-style setting.

We have eaten in all the Chinese restaurants in this area but will comment on the few that have been mentioned previously.

We like Jennie's - the ingredients are fresh and the restaurant is clean. Keep in mind that the spices they used and preparation are different than other Chinese restaurants in this area. Along with these differences, her prices are higher so some may feel more comfortable going elsewhere.

China House offers more selections in their lunch menus with rice plates. However, we found all their dishes and sauces too sweet which is not typical of Cantonese cooking.

We have tried Emperor's Garden - OK but some of the dishes were bland.

We were raised in SF eating all different types of Chinese food. Since moving to Folsom, we have had to make a BIG adjustment in our taste buds. Until a good Chinese chef and his wok comes into Folsom, we have resigned ourselves to going to Stockton Blvd or Sacramento for some authentic Chinese food. Or, cook at home (yikes!).

As we said previously, we wish for a good Asian restaurant that can serve dim sum for lunch and real dishes for dinner.

Why didn't I think of that? Chinese and Dim Sum!

I tried Golden Lake, Jennies's, Asia buffet, and China House. None match what is found in San Francisco, the Penninsula, and Oakland (yes, Oakland has a some great ones).

China House has become our favorite, or the least of all the evils, but their sauces are often gloppy from too much cornstarch, or too sweet and sticky.

As an aside, if any of you get down to San Bruno, you must try Innya Lake. It's a Burmese restaurant, and as such has the best of Chinese and other Southeast Asian influences. Their house specialty is White Pepper Crab. Fried crab tossed with chilis, garlic, onions and white peppercorns. Fantastic!

Maybe we can rent a van...

Hey, no one mentioned "RICE EXPRESS" by Natoma and Blue Ravine in the Ralphs Shopping Center. I go there often because they are fast and they always have fresh vegetable dishes on special daily. I also like the atmosphere and the fact that our meals come in less than 15 minutes and they are cooked to order - hot & steamy.

I tried Asia Buffet last night and it was uhhh.okey... maybe I should go there early when the food is fresh but it wasn't when I got there and was disappointed. It was reasonable but.......

If you guys want authentic Asian food, go to South Villa by Florin Road. It is across from Toys R Us. They have really good food there. Really good Filipino dishes as well. biggrin.gif

I think I mentioned Rice Express. They are down the street from us and yes we eat there for the veggies. The long beans are very good.

I miss the Dim Sum places out in the Richmond district!

And House of Nan King sounds so good right now......... tongue.gif

Tin's Tea House in Oakland, the places on Clement, Wee Wah on Stockton, Fook Yuen and Hong Kong Flower in Milbrae...

Maybe Fat's will do them some justice...

OctoberLily, we tried Rice Express several times. Dishes were okay except their portions are smaller than other places. Also, we generally go on Sundays which seems to be the day all the fresh vegetables aren't available. So, we haven't been back there.

Gina99 and StevetheDad, we must be eating in the same places in SF. When U mentioned Clement Street, Richmond District, and then Millbrae, it's difficult not to miss the food. We don't think Fat's will be able to provide the variety. And, the prices will be twice as much. Oh well, we can hope that someday Folsom residents will be able to experience what we experienced in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Bottom-line, we still love Folsom. We're lucky for the life we have here. Amen.

Speaking of Vietnamese food ohmy.gif biggrin.gif , there is one very close to Folsom now, we will check it out soon. It's called O'Orchird (spelling) on Greenback, Orangevale, in the Ross shopping center. The owner is from San Jose so I am assuming it's good.

L'Orchid is FABULOUS! I highly recommend it. Just perfect Vietnamese food - super fresh veggies - tasty meat. The 5 or 7 course beef is so fun to eat, rolling up little spring rolls and cooking the fondue meat. It's all so healthy.
Give it a try!

Really? I though so.....

My wife loves the 7 course of beef stuff. It's the traditional food, and we had to drive to SJ just to have that. I was a little afraid that people here would not like it but I am glad you did.

Hehehe that's why we Vietnamese are so slim, eating healthy foods.
