I decided to do some googling, and found this:
http://guide.sacbee....er-history.html
<< As for Negro Bar, it had 700 residents by 1851 and it continued to thrive through 1856, with the Meredith Hotel and Store and A.A. Durfee & Bro. and Rowley & Richardson's stores as commercial mainstays. >>
That article has other interesting facts as well.
I am guessing that the site of the old two-story Meredith Hotel is now underwater.
This book refers to "Meredith's Hotel" twice, and once to Meredith, the man:
https://books.google...h hotel&f=false
Here is an 1856 newspaper advertisement for the Grand Inauguration Ball of the new railroad line at Meredith's Hotel:

The "Meredith brothers" are mentioned.

The Meredith Hotel was located at Forrest and Burnett Streets. Forrest used to continue beyond where the VFW is and connected with Burnett Street. You can Google Map those streets and see what I mean. They no longer connect.
You can find the information on the Historic District which contains one sentence regarding the Meredith Hotel and its location. Go to City of Folsom website, Commissions, Historic District Commission, then scroll down to where it lists Historic District Design and Development Guidelines. Within the Historic District Appendix A, you'll find on page 2 of the Appendix A, in the third paragraph where it refers to the Meredith Hotel and its location.
For some reason I was unable to past the link here.

According to the Folsom street abandonment map (which shows T. Judah's original town layout), Forrest and Burnett were (and still are, mostly) always parallel. What Google shows as Burnett Street is Sibley, and what it shows as Sibley is an alley between Sutter and Leidesdorff, There is still a little piece of Forrest off of Oakdale on the east side of Folsom Blvd. that lines up with the straight portion on the west side (not sure when they were broken by the railroad/Folsom Blvd., but it was 1962 when they punched Natoma Street through to Folsom Blvd. Not sure when the other side was connected, although the current configuration east of Folsom Blvd. was built as part of the Preserve development in the early 1990s. Does anyone know if any portion of Burnett Street was actually ever built?
And, a bit of history trivia: who knows why Forrest has two 'r's? Fourthgen, you may not answer!

"Decatur was Folsom's nephew and Forrest was his sister's married name," says Puffer.

Tony, yes, Folsom had Judah and Cheney name the streets for friends who were, like him, mostly army or former army who had come out early and stayed in California. forrest was named for hos brotherinlaw. Others were friends or, in the case of Natoma, native words and Sutter is pretty obvious. Burnett street was never constructed, like most of the plat that extended over the corp yard. They laid out the plat of lots and blocks and sold at auction, but there was no city then, so no public works dept to build anything. People did, however, use surveyors to stake their lots, so fairly accurate streets were laid out in the north part of the city.According to the Folsom street abandonment map (which shows T.
