I think this may be one of the best ever: What do you think?

Who's Bad - Michael Jackson Tribute Band which has toured all over the country and overseas

Lukas Nelson and Promis of the Real - Country Blues Rock artist

Rhythm Vandals Santana Tribute

Love Fool 80′s Party Dance - From the Go-Go's to GaGa

California Surf, Incorporated - Beach Boys American Classic R&B -  the only show in the world featuring all former Beach Boy members

Midnight Players -  R&B Old School R&B

Auto Replay - 80′s Pop Dance/R&B

The Daniel Castro Band - Blues - 'A dynamic performer who “leaves it all on the stage” night after night',

Chris Gardner Band - Country - Local favorite now recording in Nashville

Garratt Wilkin and the Parrotheads - Jimmy Buffett Tribute

Joy and Madness -  An eight piece soul and funk explosion out of Sacramento’s growing funk and jam scene

The Good Samaritans - Gets the crowd moving with their special blend of live instrument Hip-Hop, lyrics filled with positivity and their love for the community.

Pointdexter - Like a carefully designed experiment of an angry scientist, PointDexter uses each member’s musical proficiency to bring flavors of many genres together to promote this concept of rock revolution.

The Brodys - For nearly two decades The Brodys have been rocking California with catchy pop/rock original songs and energetic live performances.

I'll pass.

I'll wait until it actually becomes a music-centric event instead of an excuse to party to a night full of cover/tribute bands. Nothing against those who like that, but it's not my bag.

There are quite a few acts that will be playing original music, such as Lukas Nelson, Daniel Castro, Pointdexter, Chris Gardner, Joy and Madness, the Brody's and the Good Samaritans.

As one who loves real music by real musicians, I'll be there.

As for covers, musicians of every genre study and play the music of those who came before them.

I agree with Steve. It seems like the musical line-up is improving each year.  While before there were a lot of "cover bands," there are some really good musicians in this year's event.  Pointdexter is case in point.  You may have never heard of them, but they are really talented!!  I loved hearing some of the members play at Tap Folsom.  This is REAL music!

I understand this year the event is going to be on the lower level below Sutter Street, so on Leidesdorff and the railroad plaza.  Is that right, Steve?

Kevin, from Pointdexter was particularly entertaining, singing, playing several instruments, and switching from one stage to the other to play.

As for the location, I don't think the final layout has been determined, but they are trying to minimize the impact on the streets and take advantage of the railroad plaza.

yeah, I don't think you can judge this year's Folsom Live by the past.  Its getting better.

I prefer cover bands, especially party bands like Spazmatics or Tainted Love. All in all, good Lineup. Never seen the Brodys.

Nothing wrong with that! I'm just on the flip side and generally can't stand 'em.

You are correct.

They don't have 2 of my favorites, jazz and reggae.
