I use salerno motorsports in Rocklin for my exotic. They also specialize in BMW. Ben is a great guy, honest and fair.

Check with Folsom Werkstatt at 916-984-1979. They have done an excellent job on our Mercedes and I believe they work on BMW.

I highly recommend Angelo's Performance Plus. http://www.angelosperformance.com/

His reputation here carries over from when he had a location in Campbell. We didn't know him then, but a dear friend of ours recognized him immediately and said her husband would only take his car to Angelo. My husband has been going to him for years and is always happy with the service.

My brother in law has owned a BMW parts company for over 25 years and he uses the same guy I used when I had mine.

I've owned a 1988 318i and a 1999 525 (my favorite car ever).

Dan Vasquez is the guy to go to.

I believe he started out detailing for a BMW dealership when he was 18, and came up through the ranks, becoming a master mechanic. He is awesome, knowledgeable, and honest.

He now owns his own shop: http://www.pmwonline.com/ . He offers services such as pre-purchase inspections, free second opinion inspections, and even told me what I didn't want to hear, but needed to. One day he said, 'You're car is at the age when more and more parts are going to be wearing out, and it will eventually cost more to fix than it's actually worth.' He recommended that I move on.

It was a sad day, but he was right.

I digress in my sadness...

Anyway, check out Dan Vasquez. He won't steer you wrong. Get it? 'Steer' your wrong? Hahahahah. I crack myself up.

Steve,  That is great the shop will tell the customer to move on when the car reaches a certain age.     BMW's are a lot of maintenance when they get to a certain point but they certainly drive nice!

I also heard great things about Angelo, but unfortunately I had a bad experience and cannot recommend them.

I had a performance problem with my bimmer, I took it to Angelo and paid the $125 for the computer diagnostics, and the next day I received a call that he needed to charge me an extra couple of hours of time to test and validate what the computer was reporting before conducting any repairs, because the repair looked like was going to potentially cost thousands and he wanted to do it right.  I said that the problem may be related to emissions, and asked if that would be covered by the manufacturers warranty, but he insisted that he needed a couple of extra hours of diagnostics time before he could tell me what was wrong.  I said no thanks, took it to BMW of Roseville, told them what I thought was the problem, and just as I suspected it ended up being covered in full by BMW emissions warranty with no out of pocket cost, and they even gave me a loaner vehicle.  I applaud his professionalism for trying to get it fixed right the first time, but I would not take my car to that shop again.

BMW of Roseville has ben good to me, but they are a dealer and I know they are costly.  Since then, I have used Valley Motorwerks on White Rock Rd in Rancho Cordova for my other BMW, and contrary to Angelo's, I was expecting about 1k job for my car, and it ended up costing me just a couple hundred.  I am sold on Valley Motorwerks, and will use them for both my BMWs from now on.

Hope this helps.

I alway heard BMW stands for "break my wallet".           I always told people it stands for "better mechanics work".

PJF,  Did you find a shop to service your BMW?

I think I'm going to try Valley MotorWerks.

I used to bring it to Angelo's but wanted to try someone different.

Thanks for the information.  I used to bring it to Angelo's so I know where you're coming from.  Spent a lot of money there!
