On a positive note I did meet a very nice guy who is the son of the owner of that long awaited Sutter St Tacqueira and he said they'd be open in about 2 weeks.

Saw Java Mama recently closed as well as a couple of other empty retailers a few doors down (not sure what they were). Anyone else see any closings around town recently? Sports Authority could be on the chopping block if they dont get their act together once Dicks opens. Bases Loaded I recently found out moved to a huge place in Rancho after being here for many years.
It's the ebb and flow of businesses.
The Java Mama location has been several coffee businesses. As mentioned on another thread, the center where 99 Ranch is opening used to house a yogurt shop, sandwich joint (I said Subway but think it was Quiznos), video store, water vendor, pizza place and Supermarket.
PiggyBack Ribs and the 99 Cent store recently opened there, soon to be followed by Hisui Sushi and 99 Ranch Supermarket.

FOR NOW, it looks like the Folsom Sports Authority is being spared:

I just noticed Based Loaded moved to Rancho Cordova as well.
So far I haven't seen the Folsom Sports Authority on any of the closing lists.
The Folsom Telegraph had an article that Starlight Starbright on Sutter is closing and going to an online store with occasional appearances at fundraisers and such.
In the Raley's center there is a Jersey Mike's Sub shop. Not sure if it's open yet. There is also remodeling going on for a hot tub/spa store on the corner spot.

Who shops there? Everything is overpriced unless they are running a special or sale. It seems that 80% of the store is clothing. No much of a sports store. I wonder id dicks is the same way.

Fyi OSH employees were told yesterday that the folsom store will be closing later this year. Very sad for many of those with well over 10 years there
Other than having just about every possible toilet repair kit and handle combos I don't think I've ever bought anything else there.

Dangit! I like this store (usually my first choice for a "hardware store") because the staff knows stuff, there's a lot of variety of odd bits-n-pieces, and it's not overwhelmingly huge. But, mostly, because the staff knows stuff. I guess I'll be crossing the bridge to the Ace hardware now.

Dicks is practically identical to Sports Authority... Same products, same type of set up.

Disappointed with OSH is closing. Only go into Lowes or Home Depot as last resort.

agreed. So much more support from staff than the other 2. This is very disappointing news.
