I know there is probably a large swing in costs, but it has been literally decades since I booked a band for a party. What is the going rate for either a three hour or four hour set? If you have any experience with full bands, or even solo acoustic acts, let me know! I'm just trying to get a feel for what is out there. Thanks.

I've been involved with hiring bands for everything from fundraisers to Folsom Live.
It's really all over the map. Depends one what you want, when you want it. Can be anywhere from zero to millions.
How many people? What kind of music?

go to the Saturday Farmers Market in old town. ask the market manager, Allan. He books all the small bands/acts that play at the market. some of them are very good and are probably just a couple hundred dollars at most.

I'd guestimate between $200 and $1500 depending on the quality and popularity of the band.
