CNN town hall booed a rape survivor who supports 2A

As Aces says, stay classy democrats.....!

The crowd at a Wednesday CNN town hall on the Parkland shooting booed when NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch brought up a rape survivor who supports the Second Amendment.  Kimberly Corban was raped when she was under 21 years old and is an outspoken supporter of the Second Amendment, saying she wishes she could have tried to fight off her attacker with a firearm.

Loesch referenced Corban’s case as a reason why the NRA is reluctant to support a measure that raises the minimum age at which people can buy guns to 21.  “But I also think of young women, and you’ve had a previous town hall where you spoke with a young woman named Kim Corban, who was a college student who was brutally raped in her dorm and she was under the age of 21,” Loesch said, referencing a CNN town hall where Corban asked a question of then-President Obama.

“And one of the things that she speaks out about loudly now is how she wished she would have had the ability to have some sort — a shotgun, whatever it was, to be able to defend herself,” Loesch explained, before being cut off by the crowd’s boos.

The crowd continued to loudly jeer as Loesch tried to explain her position on the age requirement, arguing that if one is old enough to drive a car or serve in the military they should also be able to buy a weapon.

OHhhhhh, this is rich!!!!!  Women are marching for empowerment, yet are told by the left that they shouldn't be allowed to defend themselves?

The largest manhunt in this area was for the East Area Rapist. Police could do little, when he broke into a home a raped a 13 year old girl. Do any of you on the left want to ever be in a position where your 13 year old child is being raped and you are able to do nothing?

What do you tell your child who has suffered such a fate? Sorry honey, I guess you are on your own?

It's disgusting that because of schools not doing their best to secure the school grounds, now we all should hand in our guns and announce to the swamp dwellers, we are fair game!  :CRAZYLOCO:

Rose,  sorry to say this, but trying to switch the conversation to another topic probably won't work right now.  Everyone is focused on the school shootings.  The NRA lady at the CNN townhall the other night was a highly trained media  spokesperson who made every attempt to pivot back onto the NRA message, divert the conversation, not answer the question asked, give answers to questions that weren't asked, and basically redirect the conversation away from guns.  To be honest, she did a horrible job.  The crowd would not let her pivot away from the basic conversation.

Yes, self defense is a serious issue and removing peoples' access to adequate self defense capabilities needs to be discussed, but that's not the conversation right now.

Quick afterthought - the gun rights people keep telling us that cars, knives, hammers, and baseball bats are dangerous and kill as many as guns.  If true, we should provide every 13 year old girl with a car, a knife, a hammer, and a baseball bat.  Then she will be adequately armed to defend herself, right?

Your last comment regarding the 13 year old girl is pretty far out there and doesn't at all reflect what I was talking about. I was referring to her being protected by the adult who is in charge. Women, more than men, need to be able to carry, and protect themselves against sexual predators. That includes women 18 and over. Under age children, such as the 13 year old who was raped by the East Area Rapist, didn't get that protection.

What would you do to protect your 13 year old daughter? Or do you not have any little girls?

A gun is an equalizer in a world where the stronger take advantage of the weaker.

Rose,  just to explain, my last comment above was just to illustrate how silly some of the gun rights arguments are.  I actually don't believe knives, hammers, and baseball bats are as lethal as guns, nor are they very effective as self defense weapons.   But when some of the gun rights people say that cars are just as lethal as guns, it's really not true.  Cars aren't specifically designed to kill living things.  In facts, cars are designed with a large number of safety features to prevent deaths.  Not so with guns.
