Do you watch this show? A new one starts tomorrow. Probably one of the best "reality shows" on TV.

My wife and I love the Amazing Race. We were so happy to see another one started so soon after the one that just ended.

I hope they keep this going and don't screw it up like they do so many programs.

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

I love this show. The only quarrel I have is that they don't show maps and are fuzzy about the relative time during the race and challenges.

Another great start to the latest Amazing Race? So who looks like the early favorites to make it to the finale?

It was sad to see the hillbilly guys lose. Although they did not seem to take it too seriously until they lost. I was glad the POW guy made it.

Rob and Amber are early favorites. They have a lucky tendency to have things go their way.

Any bets on how long the older couple, Meredith and Gretchen, will last? I find it funny that each episode they all say they're going to use their wit and wisdom to beat out the young people and then they end up getting lost all the time.

I kind of like Brian and Greg to win.

The only thing annoying about shows like this are the stereotype characters. While amusing in their flamboyance, the gays dudes are like cartoon characters...same with the now-eliminated hillbillies. You got your old couple, your black couple, the hot blondes, etc...

I am a recent convert to this series (started watching a couple races ago) and also find it MIND BOGGLING that they feel it's necessary to include older couples like these.... there are way too many physically demanding activities for them to have any chance whatsoever to even make the final 3. How many times have you seen VERY physically fit pairs completely winded after an activity or even between them as they're running from place to place?

I like the locations but hate the editing. The amount of editing done here even rivals Survivor for it's manipulation of how you feel about certain people. There isn't nearly as much in-fighting on this one vs the last race, but it seems like ANY time someone gets even the slightest bit frustrated, the sound bite is included in the final cut.

The other piece of editing I don't like is how you really can't tell how far ahead/behind someone is. They'll make it appear like two pairs are neck/neck racing towards the end but when they hit the rest stop mat, the other group is no where to be found.

I don't mind the editing if it's part of the REAL story (hence...reality TV). It starts to toe the line between fact and fiction when they edit too much.

I seem to recall that 2 (3?) races ago it was won by a retired or nearly retired couple. What was truly amazing about their win was that they were in some regards as bad as that jerk Jonathan from last season - the older man was very condescending and hard on his wife when she couldn't keep up, but then he was very loving and supportive when things were going well. In the end, they won it as I recall, or at least were in the top two. But last season and this season, the OLD couples seem TOO old, but who knows. Give em a chance I guess.

Holy cow, did the producers seek out the most annoying, obnoxious sterotypical gays on the planet for this season? The couple and the mother and her gay son are intolerable. Certainly a disservice to gays in general.

still a great show though.

Come one now - - they were sooooo cute when they were showing Phil their rowing technique that allowed them to pass up Rob and Amber. Plus when the gay son was dealing with his mom - hilarious
About Boston Rob -
Kind of bugged me how he was bragging that he convinced the other teams behind him to take the penalty, thus preserving their position. Fact is, they made their decision on the same basis Rob did - their stomachs were too wussy to take 4 lbs of meat!

Leave it to Rob to turn wussy into macho.

Rob's great. I think those gay dudes are secretly in love with him since they so desperately want to beat him.

I have a great deal of respect for Rob now...solely on his reality game playing ability. He's relentless and agressive every single step of the way. So long as he shows up to yields before everyone else, he might just take this thing.

I have a theory about Rob & Amber's appearance on this season (actually just about Rob). I wonder if the producers felt that the show wasn't nasty enough to compete with other reality shows - not enough confrontation and sneakiness. Most AR couples seem to treat each other very civilly and play well within the rules. Last night it seemed WAY too convenient that Rob could steal a cab, get a police escort, and then come up with it himself to use the time penalty to his advantage. It almost feels as though he was planted on the show to give future contestants an idea how to manipulate the system (and other players). Any thoughts?

I think you may be on to something there. My faith in reality TV has just been shattered.
