Hey Folks

As you may know, Folsom has one of the highest rated middle and high school jazz programs in the country. Folsom High, in particular, has played the Monterey Jazz Fest, as well as festivals and concerts overseas to sell out crowds.

Other than in the schools, however, there is not a single jazz venue in Folsom.

We draw big crowds at our summer concerts in Palladio, Sutter St and Lion's Park, but those are usually County, Blues and Cover Bands.

I'm trying to find out if there is support for public jazz performances other than in the schools.

By that I mean professional musicians.

So, if we were able to get a series of jazz concerts in the park this summer, would you go?

Do you go to the other free concerts?

I would go if it wasn't too hot and I could bring comfortable seating.  I would be more likely to go see these local jazz singing students than the usual cover bands.  I'm sure the Cherry Poppin' Daddies are just fine, but I bet I would prefer the jazz sung by the students.

I'd go, but then I love live music. If I could bring a chair and an "adult beverage" and relax while watching the performers, I can't see any reason not to go. And yes, we go to concerts in the park, live music at old FOlsom and the occasional blues show at Powerhouse. Also blues and brews (folsom and Orangevale) , 3 stages, Sutter Creek theater, Grass Valley,  and a rare open mic night.

We may not be your "typical" Folsomite to ask.

About the only thing we won't do is big, crowded venues. Yeccch!

I edited the post to specify that I am speaking specifically of professional musicians, rather than by the students, though I would not be opposed to them playing a show.

YES! I would attend. Over the years I have attended an occasional concert in the park, but more as a social activity than to specifically see the entertainment. I didn't realize they had blues bands at the concerts - I will make sure to check out the schedules. I am also happy to buy tickets or pay a cover to see artists I like and jazz and blues are my favorite. I prefer a small venue and as others have said if I can bring a chair and a beverage I'll be there. I would also love to see a bar in Folsom bring in jazz/blues entertainment once or twice a month.
