Jim ‘Digger’ Williams, a Folsom icon, has passed away.

Jim and his lovely wife Sharon came to Folsom in 1960, and over time became true community leaders.

Jim worked at the local funeral home, earning the nickname ‘Digger’, and was fond of telling people he’d meet, ‘I’ll be the last one to let you down’, and he never let us down.

He was a volunteer coach for Folsom High school football, baseball and wrestling.  He hosted the Folsom Concerts in the Park for many years.

He loved Folsom’s Pro Rodeo, and worked at each since its inception in 1960.

Digger has was also an Ambassador for the Folsom Chamber of Commerce, and welcomed countless new businesses at ribbon cuttings and mixers.

With his wife Sharon, who has worked at the Chamber for over 20 years, if there was a Folsom event, Digger was there. He did everything from setting up furniture to greeting guests.

He was a strong man, funny, smart and kind. He could tell a joke, corny ones mostly,  or break out in song.

This would have been Digger’s 54th rodeo, and he and Sharon would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on July 19.

Folsom is a great place to live in part due to Digger Williams.  There will never be another. He will be greatly missed.

I'm sorry to hear this.  I met him at one of the concert in the park events.  He was a very kind and funny man.
