I just found out that a new BBQ joint, a national chain is planning on opening at the former Steves Pizza location. This is due to open sometime in April, it is called Dickies or Dickeys BBQ.. I am not sure, but we will keep our eyes open and check 0n the progress. We'll see if this national chain can hold up against an outstanding BBQ joint in that being the Sierra Smokehouse... In my not so humble opinion... hehe

I think they have a place at the Dallas airport in the American Airlines terminal.... cup looks very familiar. I can remember carrying BBQ home in my carry on bag cuz my folks loved it so much. I remember it was very tasty.

It was in the Walmart shopping center on Riley Street. It lasted probably less than a year, and closed probably over a year ago. I kinda liked their pizza.

I don't think the place lasted longer than six months. I purchased a few pizzas while they were here. :( I liked it better than Round Table.

They are in Phoenix area (Mesa and Scottsale, to be precise; they were previously in numerous locations in AZ, but all closed down and they pulled out of the state for some years, re-opening in Scottsdale around 2008 and then the one in Mesa last year . . . both long after we moved here, but I've been back, most recently at an event catered by them late last year). I don't eat meat (or anything else they serve), so, although I've been to events that used them for catering, I can't comment on the taste. And, I don't recall anything looking all that spectacular.

It's considered a "quick serve chain."

Oh, and here are some reviews:

That's a tough corner of the parking lot. There used to be a Blockbuster, a skate shop and a hot dog joint. All gone. I hope they make it. Maybe they'll give T2 Yan (love that place) some more visibility and vice versa.

Not everyone wants to drive to Cameron Park, plus, they are pretty small, a nice place for lunch or takeout, but not a very nice place for an evening dinner with service and comfortable relaxed seating. That's my take on Sierra anyway.

But I fear that if Folsom couldn't support Texas West BBQ over by BelAir, how the heck will Dickey's survive over by WalMart. Steve's didn't make it there, neither did a Hot Dog joint and maybe a couple of others.

I look forward to giving them a try, but I wouldn't bet money on how long they will last. I hope they survive if their food is good, I'm just skeptical on our town supporting a BBQ joint, especially at that location.

Indeed. If I were the franchisee for Dickey's, I'd try to find a better location.

Agreed, those reviews are making me second guess my statement on looking forward to trying them out. Good thing I have my own smoker.
