Well, it was about time that they arrested Scott Peterson. I hope that all the evidence that they have will result in a guilty verdict. I wonder if he'll make it through a trial though. There are always possibilities that #1- he'll hang himself in jail or #2- some one at the jail will take care of him before he has a chance of a trial. Either way, I felt that he was somehow responsible for her disappearance and death. My heart goes out to her family, as I could not imagine the heartbreak that they are going through right now.

They are going after the death penalty on this one, which means they have overwhelming evidence on this. I am not looking forward to the OJ-style media circus surrounding this - it already appears this will be happening.

They are going w/the death penalty b/c it's a capital murder case. It has nothing to do with the amount of evidence in place. I wonder if Laci's parents will want the death penalty for their in-law. That's a tough one knowing that your daughter loved the jerk.

It doesn't look good, but the defense can still raise reasonable doubt. The life insurance is nothing; a lot of people get life insurance when they are expecting their first child.

Scott Peterson is guilty of not loving his wife and having an affair. I feel that he probably did it, but I'm curious to hear the "slam dunk" evidence.

Bodies of Peterson and Baby May Have Been Discovered in Mid-March
The bodies of Laci Peterson and her unborn son may have been discovered much earlier than reported. Investigators using sonar may have found the bodies in a Bay Area shipping channel weeks before they washed ashore.

Sonar specialist Gene Ralston told News10 the bodies could not be recovered immediately because the conditions in San Francisco Bay were difficult that day.

According to Ralston, at the time there were very strong winds and strong currents created by changing tides. He also said investigators were working in a shipping lane with heavy traffic that couldn't be stopped. A dive operation would not have been safe at the time.

Ralston said the image he and his colleagues saw on sonar indicated the fate of the victims. "The object that appeared in the image, the sidescan image, appeared to be the right size and shape," Ralston said. "Obviously, it was not an accidental drowning so it wasn't the shape of what we would look for in an accident, but rather, a shape that we may have been looking for if someone was wrapped up in something."

Modesto police never told reporters what they may have found. An article that appeared Sunday in The Oakland Tribune quotes police sources who say they did not reveal the discovery for fear the suspect might flee. The article also claims Modesto Police Chief Roy Wasden confirmed the body was found as early as mid-March. News10 spoke with Wasden, who said the article's claims are fictitious.

The bodies Laci Peterson and her unborn son were found on April 14 and 15 on the shore near the Richmond Marina. Peterson's husband, Scott, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder. The Stanislaus District Attorney said Friday his office would seek the death penalty if Scott Peterson is convicted.
